So my 3 month old went for his ACTH test yesterday due a a low free thyroid reading and a normal tsh which they said should have been raised to account for the low free thyroid levels

His ACTH test results came back normal no concerns however I'm now wondering where we go from here?

He was a very sick baby had to be resus, ventilated at birth then various jaundice lung hemorrage etc. and a month ago had an operation on an inguinal hernia could this all affect his t4 levels without anything else going on in the background?

I'm sorry I cannot answer your question, and your little baby has gone through a lot already.

I hope a member who has gone through a similar worry like you will respond. In the meantime, maybe the attached link will be helpful.

Your baby is just three months and I do hope he slowly responds to his treatment and that you have a good paediatrician (or asked to be referred to one).

The body produces T4 and T3 and T4 is an inactive hormone and has to convert to T3. T3 is the active thyroid hormone and we have lots of T3 receptor cells which have to have T3 in order for our body to function normally.
