I found this podcast mildly interesting because this Johns Hopkins MD claims that supplemental Biotin alters thyroid test results. This guy is in favor of T3 and trials of thyroid hormone in general, but he does seem to have a problem admitting that the increase in thyroid disorders might be related to environmental pollution.

Eddie83, thyroid problems have been around since humans populated the planet.

There are parts of the world where iodine levels in water and soil are very low.

Same goes for selenium. Both are necessary for thyroid function.

Also there are areas in the world where other halides like fluoride and bromine

are high and these compete with iodine.

Definitely some forms of pollution can adversely affect thyroid function as well.

I was just reading a study from eastern Slovakia that attributes thyroid dysfunction

to industrial pollution.

And nowadays the gut microbiome is also being considered as triggering autoimmune

diseases, of which Hashimoto's Thyroiditis is one.

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

Most folks can't do anything about the environmental pollution.

That's the fact of the matter.

Only by totally changing the way society works, which is next to impossible if you want to keep your geographical mobility, internet connection, central heating and so on.

Eddie It's not a claim that biotin can skew certain test results, it is a proven fact, and not just thyroid tests.
