Endo given up!

Hi everyone

I still have an on going battle to get the medication I was put on while living in France L-Thyroxine Henning, as it’s lactose and mannitol free. My Endo has now written a letter telling my doctor that it would be best if I have a private prescription and buy the tablets myself. I don’t mind doing that but if we ever do have Brexit will the Germain on line chemists still deal with us?

I would be happier if he would prescribe me a lactose and mannitol free tablet here, but he says there isn’t a licensed one available ? Is this correct do any of you know of one? He will not do the ‘ named patient form ‘.

I’m really stuck and worried now for the future unless I accept the run of the mill Levo with lactose HELP

Think gp can give you liquid levo

No fillers in it

It’s just expensive I think

I asked about that and he said the hospital chemist told him they don’t have any without lactose or mannitol ?

UK only lactose free tablets are by Teva. These contain mannitol

Liquid Levothyroxine is expensive so they are extremely reluctant to prescribe this

No one knows what's going to happen to access to EU options if we ever do leave the EU. But hundreds, if not thousands of patients currently forced, (by widespread refusal to prescribe T3 on NHS), to get their T3 on private prescription from Germany.

The current cross-border prescription rules seem pretty clear that non-EU prescriptions are not recognised.

The EU page mentions UK decision to invoke Article 50 of the TEU: More information but I cannot find any further information specific to prescriptions. On that basis, I assume that UK prescriptions would no longer be accepted.

PS: I like L-thyroxin Henning - seemed the best of the lot to me when I was able to get hold of it.

There are Martindale compounded tablets, but these are also expensive. The ones I tried from Martindale were not exactly compounded, but only had two excipients in them, neither of which were lactose or mannitol. They still did not suit me though.
