Vitamin D

I have realised that I didn't spot the units my last test was in, so I am actually right at the bottom of the range. And I know doctors are satisfied with numbers that are far too low.

Please can you knowledgeable ones suggest what supplement should I take, and how much?

I can't see a post where your Vit D result is. Can you give your current level, with unit of measurement, and I'll point you in the right direction.

It's 104.1nmol/l the range I found online was 100 at the low end.

The "ranges" for Vit D are actually categories, eg Deficient, Insufficient, Sufficient, etc.

The NHS lab which does tests for the general public has the following:

Less than 15nmol/L = Severe Deficiency

15-30 = Deficiency

30.1 - 50 = Insufficiency

Greater than 50 = Adequate

220nmol/L = considered high and increase the risk of Vit D toxicity.

The Vit D Council recommends a level of 125nmol/L and the Vit D Society recommends a level of 100-150nmol/L.

So your level is good. If that's your current level, tested between the months of November-March, then you are maintaining a good level even in winter. If that was your level tested during the summer months then it may drop during the winter when we can't make Vit D naturally from the sun and you may need to supplement during the winter.

Thank you Susie. It was tested in February. Of course I cant find where I read that it should be over 150! But I trust you!

I got Thyroid S from Thailand last year, you need to start a thread asking other members where and how to get it. I think I deleted the man's details who I used but I will look if no one replies to you.
