Is it normal to get a feeling of acidity when you take your daily Levothyroxine? I’m on the Teva brand, 125mg, I also follow a gluten free diet.

Are you lactose intolerant?

Why Teva brand? It upsets many, many patients

How long since you had full Thyroid and vitamin testing

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw). This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

Well, I never have, in 40 yrs of taking Levo, but we are each individual in how things affect us. Do you always swallow your tablet with a full glass of water? Have you checked the inactive ingredients of Teva, to see if you have a sensitivity to, or intolerance of any of them? Unlike the other UK brands, it is lactose-free, but there might be something else that aggravates you. Not every one does well on every brand, and although some like Teva, others definitely don't get on with it. Have you ever taken other than Teva, and been okay re. acidity? Do you generally have a problem with reflux/GERD, or with low stomach acid - the latter is often confused for the former?
