Contradictory advice

Hello

Over the past few years I've moved for work so changed endocrinologists, each one offering different advice. Does anyone know of a good specialist (toxic goitre) in the north of England?

I'm really concerned that the current one is pushing RAI as I can't find enough information to make an informed decision.

I said I'd received contradictory advice, and his response was he couldn't speak for them.

Thanks in advance Hx

Hi

I’ve never had one myself but both my neighbours regret having the RAI.

Got to agree “ run” from that. One has had awful side effects.

Many have RAI and it works a treat, no problems at all.

Did you have full or partial? Was it for goitre or regular overactive?

My head's spinning with the doctor's info or lack of x

There are others on the forum who are doing very well after RAI, as you know. I had Graves for 30 years before RAI so I'm well aware of the problems but it doesn't "cause major damage" to everyone.

Years ago I saw a program that was very negative about RAI and the effects of it years after the fact and because of it I had a total thyroidectomy. One doctor chastised me so much he had me in tears and my blood pressure seriously elevated. Needless to say I ignored him and went through with the surgery and am thankful that I did since it is 40 years on and although I’ve suffered with fluctuations with my medications I feel it is better than the side effects of RAI. Good luck. Research/knowledge is best. x

Thank you so much....

I'm so worried, the doctor has sent me an appointment for a radioactive scan; charging ahead without asking x
