When you have a review and/ if you are successful do they have to backdate payments if the review is a greater amount than previously?
Say for instance I now get basic living allowance and the review states I’m now entitled to mobility do they have to backdate the payments to the day of the assessment?
Thank you in advance

In the early days of DLA they back dated by 3 months. I worked for a charity helping with disability claims so all i can tell you is when things changed they paid back payment to the date the new claim form was signed and dated. Now it seems to be that they will send you a new claim form and give you a date that the new claim becomes effective from the sods have done this to prevent back payments.
Received my review form yesterday after 6 months of waiting. My PIp has now ended on 15th January they has refused everything even though things are worse.
They have stated my needs have changed!
I was wearing clean clothes therefore I can dress and undress myself unaided even though I stated in my form and my extra information and to the assesseors that my partner assists me and I use a sock aid and a long shoe horn (these are not considered to be an aid apparently.
I am in the process of completing a mandatory reconsideration and we will go from there.
Don’t hold out too much hope for the mandatory reconsideration. At this stage, a different decision maker will review the paperwork, but if the assessment was flawed (ask for a copy of the full report) the decision is unlikely to change, unless you are able to submit additional medical evidence to support your application.
If the MR doesn’t succeed, don’t despair - it’s worth carrying on to the appeal. Turn up in person, and ideally get some help with completing the form - eg Citizens Advice, Benefits and Work, or Age U.K.
