WP Thyroid warning

So I recently bought WP Thyroid because it apparently only had two inactive ingredients: inulin and medium chain triglycerides.

So I received it and took some today, and had a very bad allergic reaction. After reading the instructions it also has lactose monohydrate in it.

It doesn’t state this on their website, in fact quite the opposite. So anyone thinking about trying it, take this into account.

I think you must have missed it, but it is mentioned on their website under 'ingredients':

WP Thyroid Ingredients

WP Thyroid is formulated with the following ingredients:

Active Ingredient:

Thyroid USP* (desiccated porcine thyroid)

*Lactose Monohydrate (Lactose is not added to our formula but it is already present in Thyroid USP raw material as a diluent per USP (United States Pharmacopeia). Lactose is not contraindicated for individuals with allergies to dairy, as lactose is a milk sugar (vs. dairy allergies, which are caused by proteins in milk). It is, however, contraindicated for individuals with lactose intolerance. We have had many physicians reporting no side effects while using Nature-Throid with lactose intolerant patients. The amount is very small – less than 5 mg. per 1 Grain vs. 12,000 – 15,000 mg. in a typical 8 fl. oz. glass of milk.)

Do you know of any NDT with little harming fillers?

I had Armour compounded by pharmacy with only one filler and porcine extract and it has work nowhere near as good as Thyroid-S. some of the additional ingredients improve activation and preserve I believe, that’s why. I was back to Thyroid - S very quickly. Only 200 dollars poorer 🙂

what was the difference in the symptoms between the compounded one and the thyroid-s?

It could be the inulin some people are sensitive to it. It is in salsify which I ate recently and felt truly awful gave me chronic gut rot. You are supposed to be able to get used to it slowly and it does have health benefits 😳. Just a thought might be worth googling to see if there is any info about it. WP has the least fillers of all the NDTs. I take ThyroidS it is packed with them but I seem ok On it. Stop the thyroid madness lists the ingredients google STTM NDT Brands and you should get the page.

It causes my throat and airways to close up! Not going to try and get used to it haha. Thank you for your input!

Try taking an anti histamine one hour before your thyroid meds. If that stops it then it's got something in it that you are allergic to so you need to change to another. Can you be sure you haven't changed anything else recently, soap powder or other cleaning agents, air fresheners, maybe something in a Christmas gift you aren't familiar with. It might have to be a process of elimination.

Thank you!

It’s definiteky the lactose, my airways and throat close up - the same thing has happened every time I’ve tried a product with lactose

Good that you know as it can be a nightmare searching

Inulin gives some people a bad gut, too.
