T3 Increase

I have visited my endocrinologist this week following a blood test.

Results as follows: TSH. 0.16 (0.3-5.0). FT4. 11.2 (7.9-16.0). FT3. 4.4(3.8-6.0)

He has doubled my T3 to 20mcgs. Now taking 100/75 Levo alt.+20mcgs LioT3 for one month and has asked me to contact him at the end of the month.I feel thankful for the T3 increase but doubt the NHS will support it long term. It is all a concern when you read of so many having problems sourcing it for themselves.

I also asked about cutting Morningside T3 in half for 10mcgs doses instead of dissolving in water and discarding the other half (wasteful) and was told it is fine to cut them and take with a glass of water. However, I won't need to do that now!!😊 It may possibly help someone else though.

An endo that works! Congratulations.

Do they write to the GPs and tell them you need the T3 dose or do you just have to fight for your T3 from the surgery? It doesn't seem right at all if they get told you need it and then ignore the letter and let you suffer.

Hi there,

Yes I was fortunate to get my increase in T3.However,what the future holds is anyone's guess at the moment,as his prescription is only for one month. My Endo hinted at me getting someone to bring a year's supply back from abroad for me.Well that's no answer for me.My family all have busy lives and are not going to take off to Europe to get mum's meds!! Even buying on line has it's problems.

I shall see my GP and discuss it with him.He has been good in continuing to supply me with my 10mcgs T3,but I think the cost of 20mcgs might be a bit too much !!

Watch this space.😊

If you have trouble getting it out of the GP you should write to your MP and perhaps to Lord Hall (I think he's the one heading up the T3 investigation in the HoL).
