Graves relapse? Early symptoms

When relapsing, what are the early symptoms? I have a feeling of very ild tremor, and my neck and lower back ache... My heart rate is normal though...

I am going for a t4 test this week as soon a s I can, jus wondered what everyones experience of early relapse symptoms are. I was diagnosed 2 years ago, and relapsed once, both time's my heart rate went up... This time not change so far?

Maybe I am tuning into it easier, before the heart is affected? Or is it possible to have tremor but no high T4? TIA

I had a relapse (while still under treatment) about a year ago - my heart rate went up, other symptoms were less conclusive than the first time aroun.

Fingers crossed, Wildpoppy :)

it's the absolute pits ! I did have a bit of tremor and generally feeling a bit hyper before some tests six months ago, and thought my thyroid levels might be on the way up again. but although they hadn't come down as fast as endo had hoped, they were still within range, I'm sure you know how it works by now - get plenty of sleep, try to avoid stress, and try not to worry - ok, I know, all very difficult ! x

Yes, its a pain for sure... I was the same a while ago, thought my heart was up a bit, had a fine tremor... had bloods and they were fine! So annoying and frustrating. Am trying to avoid stress, though tricky with a rotting marriage... :-( but for sure I am going to be early :-) Thanks for your support xx

I haven’t had a relapse but when my Graves symptoms started the first thing I noticed was a more noticeable heart beat, then severe racing heart/palpitations.

After this came the anxiety, loose stools, hot flushes. Shaking only started many months after the first symptoms.

I imagine though that everyone is different.

You are getting tested so that will tell you.

I've just relapsed over Christmas after 8 years remission. Symptoms were headaches and fast heart beat (130 when I went to the GP), breathlessness, loose stools, hot flushes at night (but I'm 47 and already in perimenopause since 2016, I think this change may have had an influence on my relapse, as well as my sudden father's death just over a year ago). Also dry6/gritty eyed, some pain behind right eye. Basically all the same symptoms I had the first time around in 2007 but feeling more muscles tiredness, especially in the legs (very heavy, almost cramping) . I'm on propranolol 120mg and carbimazole 40mg. Block and replace treatment worked for me the first time so hoping to follow the same treatment. Waiting for endo appointment.

Have you had confirmation that your symptoms were due to a relapse? If so, what treatment are you on?

Hi there

No I had not relapsed... thankfully... I am not sure why I had tremor but apparently Sometimes you can feel some of the older symptoms of hyperactivity, even though your levels are within range. This is the first time this has happened for me, but I am very glad that my levels were okay. Since posting, the trimmer has gone and my lower back and neck are better after I cut out sugar from my diet. Hope you are feeling okay, all the best

Thank you, and sorry I'm very glad to hear it wasn't a relapse for you. Yes, during the 8 years when I was in remission, I had a few false alerts, feeling the old familiar symptoms, tremor and restlessness but blood tests confirmed that I was within the normal range. This time around, unfortunately, it's a proper relapse (very fast heartbeat and headaches were the main symptoms, no tremor though...). All the best
