Have you tested to see what vitamins and minerals you need? No point in taking vitamins and minerals you don’t need.

I always took 1000mcg slow release vitamin C. My pharmacist came out specially to tell me to do that when I started on carbimazole.

My B12 was just over the lower limit so I used Jarrows sublingual methylcobalamin B12 and I use a Better You vitamin D spray although at the moment I’m using a combined vitamin D plus vit K spray.

I often take CoQ10 or ubiquinol, I eat oily fish several times a week and every day I eat a few Brazil nuts, a few almonds, couple of walnuts and some seeds, pumpkin and sunflower usually, to boost selenium etc although the amount of that is dependent on the quality of the soil they are grown in.

I also went totally gluten free to reduce my thyroid antibodies although the jury is out on whether or not that is worth doing. My antibodies are a fraction of what the were so I’m happy with that, could be a coincidence I don’t know.

I know what you mean about gluten free.I had my second relapse when I had been gf for a year and I thought I was doing really well🤔

Oh dear. That must have been such a disappointment. Just when you think you are doing so much too help yourself then something like that happens. Suppose you’ve just got to keep doing what’s best, keep your vitamins and minerals well up in their ranges and plough on haven’t you.

Important to test ferritin, folate and B12 and to retest vitamin D at least annually when supplementing vitamin D

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4, FT3 plus TPO and TG thyroid antibodies and also very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting.

Just vitamin D test

Many Graves patients find strictly gluten free diet helps too

Thank you.I will look into private testing as my specialist isn’t keen on testing again for antibodies and vitamin deficiencies.🤔

Did you get those Private tests done ?

I didn't in the end because I couldn't afford it at the time and wasn't sure how accurate they are?

I'm still on 1000mg vit c and vit d.

1000mg evening primrose and calcium and magnesium....have been getting breast cysts and menopause symptoms too.

The tests are used by thousands on this Forum - so accuracy is not an issue. You could have asked about them ?

Have you asked GP to test calcium etc ? From following this Forum you will have read your VitD dose is based on your test result. Adding in Calcium without testing is not always good. VitD improves the uptake of calcium from foods so taking VitK2- MK7 directs calcium away from arteries and soft tissue and into bones and teeth.

There are posts about Special Offers on a Thursday with Medichecks for private testing.

Is that a 1000 iu's of VitD ? How is your Ferritin - Folate - B12 ?

I've just looked at blue horizon and theres a 30% discount which brings the thyroid and vitamin test down to £90.30...maybe a silly question but do they analyse or do you post results on here for help?

It is often mentioned here not to bother with the Doctors interpretation !. They have to fall in line with Guidelines ?? When you have the results post them here - the result AND the range. Start a new post and members will help. Check out Medichecks too ...
