Cold Hands and Feet

Does anyone feel the cold?? Never used to bother me, but the last few years, I forever have cold hands and feet. Almost painful. Sat here at the moment with hands on hot water bottle and blanket over my legs.

Yes, and it’s like cold water running through my veins as well.

As you have posted on the thyroid forum, I presume you have a thyroid condition.

If you have this could be a good indication your not on the correct thyroid dosage.

Have you got your latest blood results?.

Yes I was unlucky enough to be born with out a full gland, but the part I did get, has never worked so on medication always. I have been checked and everything is as it should be. I think the coldness started when I was in hospital with pneumonia and since they have been messing me around. I think my thermostat is broke lol

For people with hypothyroidism I suspect this would be one of the top five most common problems that sufferers get. I'm cold a huge proportion of the time, either all over, or bits and pieces of me.

I have to wear thick woolly socks in bed for at least nine months of the year. I have to pile blankets on top of the duvet as well, whereas my husband is happy with just the duvet 99% of the time. I often have extremely cold extremities - and my definition of "extremities" is really quite broad - feet, hands, ears, nose, cheeks, boobs and buttocks can all get extremely cold. If I'm sitting down my knees often get cold too.

Despite all the blankets and the woolly socks I also need a hot water bottle on many nights in the winter.

So I can empathise and sympathise with you completely.

You know I have only noticed it in the last few years and I have been under active all my life! But it is now quite painful and really cold. I also have a cold nose and ears. But when you are menopausal your cold bits stay cold and then you get overheated in other areas lol

Perhaps your treatment was closer to optimal for you in years gone by?

It is a sore subject tbh humanbean. You may have seen one of my posts in the past but for the first 30 plus years I had no problems then they started messing me around and the consequences have been horrendous. Ironically I am now on my original dose plus T3. But now have to contend with weight issues, B12 and Vitamin D deficiencies and pernicious anaemia. I was iron anaemic for awhile but not since being menopausal. So perhaps that is it unfortunately. x

I recently read that we are cold if we have low ferritin/anaemia.

Most probably true thyr01d, Nothing would surprise me.

I have Pernicious Anaemia and did have iron deficient anaemia but not at the moment with the latter. Also have B12 deficiency and vitamin D.
