Today I received my results on trab abs and they were normal

This private consultant was certain I have Graves Disease due to my results

My TSH 0.07

My TPO 149

My t4 28.2

My t3 12.6

Trab abs normal

I’m confused dr has given me carbimazole

I have a ultrasound scan also privately which showed inflammation on the right side

I just lost twins at 7 weeks since then my hormones have been like this

Can someone tell me what is happening to me please

Thank u

Can you give us the ranges, please? The numbers in brackets after the result.

If your TRAB is normal, then you don't have Grave's. But, it looks as if your TPO antibodies are high (can't tell without the ranges, because ranges vary from lab to lab) which would mean you have Hashi's. Hashi's starts with low TSH, high FT4/3, like Grave's, but will then go hypo, unlike Grave's. So, carbi is not the right treatment for you. Unfortunately, endos just don't understand that.

grey goose I have been reading ur replies to many others to and u seem to know alit thank you so much for helping god bless u thus private consultant didn’t give me the range he was very nasty he told me to continue on carbimazole for 3 weeks my scan said thyroid inflammation and Thyroiditis which is non specific I don’t know what this means

I also have a 1 cm nodule

Mild moderately reduced echogenicity and moderate hyperthermia suffering non specific Thyroiditis solitary right lower pole thyroid nodule 1cm which is well defined and isoechoic to the adjacent thyroid parenchyma considered to be non neoplastic BTA class

What upsets me is I have had 4 days of 10 mg carbimazole and now worried did I really need them

Sorry for the loss of your twins

So this result looks more like Hashimoto's or a hot nodule

Ask for vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels to be tested

Very common for some or all of these to be too low with either Hashimoto's or Graves

Obviously if TTC again soon you will need optimal vitamin levels, especially B12 and folate

Poor gut function can lead leaky gut (literally holes in gut wall) this can cause food intolerances. Most common by far is gluten. Dairy is second most common.

According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's are coeliac, but over 80% find gluten free diet helps, sometimes significantly. Either due to direct gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)

Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and slowly lower TPO antibodies

Ideally ask GP for coeliac blood test first

But don't be surprised that GP or endo never mention gut, gluten or low vitamins. Hashimoto's is very poorly understood
