Healing Adrenal Glands

I have just seen a summit in which John Gray [Men are frim Mars etc] gave a talk and he says the adrenal glands can be healed using 5,000 mg of vitamin C, 5,000 mg taurine and 5,000 mg MSM three times a day. Has anyone tried this with any success?

The link has a video and at the end he talks about this, but using different quantities.

Not that. But my adrenals have mostly got better - it's taken more than a decade (nearer two) - with ashwaghanda, meditation, adrenanvive III. I also take MSM about 10g a day in water with salt and lemon in the morning (but not for adrenals), but not taurine or vit C. I have DHEA on prescription also.

I have just started taking them so it will be interesting to see if I notice a difference. John Gray said about taking them for a few months so I hope somthing will happen. I did take DHEA for a while but didn't feel any different with that. Every "expert" suggest something else to do so it is hard to know whose advice to follow.

Unfortunately, these things won't have any effect on adrenal insufficiency. Addison's Disease Self Help Group (ADSHG) has some fantastic information, all science based etc. and I urge you to find a good endocrinologist! Adrenal Insufficiency is potentially life threatening so you need to be under someone who really knows the condition inside and out. I'm with the endocrinology team at The Christie in Greater Manchester and they're really good.

Thanks. I have no faith in the NHS endo in Chichester as he only is interested in TSH and T4 levels and using increasing doses of levo to raise T4 [yet will prescribe NDT privately!!] so I would not expect any help. He did measure serum cortisol and adrenal antibodies when I saw him about my thyroid and as they are OK I doubt he believes in adrenal fatigue/insufficiency. I have found a local osteopath who trained as a functional medicine practitioner [under Chris Kresser] and I think she may have more answers. I shall certainy investigate the ADSHG.

Without being harsh, 'adrenal fatigue' is not a correct term and is often used as a 'diagnosis' for people who haven't yet found an answer for their symptoms..but it's dangerous because it is not a real answer, and often people who have been told they have 'Adrenal Fatigue' end up taking supplements and herbal 'medicines' which they don't need and that is so so dangerous.

Adrenal Insufficiency on the other hand is a real term for a real condition, and the symptoms associated with it can also be associated with other conditions. I know you don't have much faith in the NHS but there are some fantastic doctors out there, and seriously it is really not a good idea to have anyone other than a trained endocrinologist handling your thyroid condition, and any other endocrine conditions you may have. Please do get in touch with ADSHG! They are amazing and will be able to point you in the direction of good, ADSHG-approved endocrinologists ^_^
