So latest results are

TSH 0.07 (0.27-4.2)

T4 13.5 (12-22)

T3 6 (3.4-6.8)

I'm on thyrogold 300

Symptoms fatigue, aches, weight gain feel much worse in the mornings! I am menopausal and suffer hot flushes I'm wondering if it's time to go back to levo or to add some levo? Test was taken at 8.30am 12 hours after last dose

I know that Thyrogold is a combination of T4/T3 but I'm wondering if the balance isn't right for you. I take Levo plus T3 and I need both FT4 and FT3 about 75% through range, I am unwell with a low FT4. Maybe you need FT4 higher too. You could try adding some Levo to see how it goes. If you still have some natural conversion then your FT3 may rise so keep an eye on things, retest 6 weeks after any dose change.

How are your vitamins and minerals - are they all at optimal levels?

Vit D - 100-150nmol/L

B12 - top of range

Folate - at least half way through range

Ferritin -half way through range

The Hashi's is always going to complicate things :(

Are you taking a good B complex such as Thorne Basic B or Igennus Super B?

How much Vit D are you taking, and are you also taking magnesium and Vit K2-MK7, D3's important cofactors?

No ferritin result?

Ferritin is over range always us and I don't supplement. Vit D3 I take 4000iu soft gel at moment it's probably higher now as I stopped for a while due to weather my B12 goes way over range of I take B complex that's why I only take the folate I have some magnesium but forget it half the time? I'm not familiar with K2 or MK7?

You'd be best getting your Vit D level up now. As we can't make Vit D from the sun this time of year, we draw on our store so that gradually goes down over winter. My normal level is 150 (after bringing it up from severely deficient at 15) and I normally supplement 2000iu daily in summer to keep it there and 5000iu in winter. Somehow it managed to fall to 104 this summer and I was experiencing bone pain, so I've been taking 5000iu daily for a few months now.

Magnesium helps D3 to work. We need Magnesium so that the body utilises D3, it's required to convert Vit D into it's active form. So it's important we ensure we take magnesium when supplementing with D3.

D3 aids absorption of calcium from food and K2-MK7 directs the calcium to bones and teeth where it is needed and away from arteries and soft tissues where it can be deposited and cause problems such as hardening of the arteries, kidney stones, etc.

Can you recommend at K2 and MK7 please?

This is the one I like

bigvits.co.uk/product/vitam...

Nice small softgel, only the K2 and extra virgin olive oil to aid absorption (it's a fat soluble vitamin) so no unnecessary ingredients. As it's a US brand it's not as widely available as some supplements, but that supplier is the cheapest and I use them frequently, they are very good. There is one marketplace seller on Amazon slightly cheaper but looking at their feedback they seem to have a lot of remarks about being slow with delivery so for the extra 90p I prefer my usual supplier.

I'd ask the doctor for a bloodtest re the high Ferretin, my two sons have both been diagnosed with Heamachromatosis. Symptoms are unexplained aches and pains.

Check out WWW.tired thyroid for some interesting input re FT3/FT4 ratios.

I have experienced relentless weight gain on NDT & have added some thyroxine into the mix.Although well past menopause,I get hot flushes if my FT3 is too high.

I think hormone havoc at menopause & beyond needs sorting if unwell.I am using transdermal natural progesterone.

Hi Claire- sounds like some sound advice above. Sorry I haven’t got anything else to add and that you’re not feeling so good. Have you managed to stay GF & almost dairy free? It looks like your antibodies have come down?? X

Hi Kipsy yes still gluten free and mainly diary free. I don't think NDT is working for me??

Will PM you xx

One thing I tried when still getting morning fatigue was to change my breakfast. Sounds unlikely but I think I was eating too much fruit, therefore sugar, and not enough protein. Since changing I've noticed a big difference.

I've read too that adrenals love vit C and so I take a good amount morning and afternoon.

Sorry I can't add anything about your results, though as Susie says you might need more T4.
