T3 stopped

So I’ve been iff T3 since July 31st . My endo wasn’t sure why I was actually feeling worse, initially maybe chemical imbalance, unable to tolerate T3 , adrenal insufficiency, postural hypotension .

So he recommended ceasing T3 (for now ) and gave me Fludrocortisine 50mgs x 3 a week .

Well I cannot believe the difference -I feel human again ! My energy levels have increased . Blood pressure better, heart rate down on a negative weight increased.

Yesterday I had blood tests . Specifically 9am cortisol

Previous result was 201 now 280

(However my GO said I would not get a true result due to the Fludrocortisine ???)

TSH July 0.01

TSH today 0.01 (ref 0.27 - 4.2) GP states too low

Free thyroxine July 9.6

Free thyroxine today 22 I (ref 12.0- 22.0) Gp

States too high and to see her.

I see my endo in 2 weeks as I’ve increased T 4 from 125dince I last saw him in July (as instructed by him). However , I am meant to increase to 150 next week ,not sure if I should.

I do wonder if the T3 May have been too high a dose originally (40 mgs)

Or maybe the German brand did not agree with me (pre Xmas I was in French version)

Any thoughts ??

Some of us are affected by fillers/binders in some hormone products. This is re fludrocortisone

I have read that 20mcg of T3 is equal, in its affect, to approx 60mcg of levothyroxine.

Your GP should ignore your TSH result as you have been taking T3 and the blood tests were invented for levothyroxine (T4 only) . This is an excerpt from the following:-

TSH is not a thyroid hormone and is not an appropriate guide to thyroid replacement therapy. The hypothalamic-pituitary secretion of TSH did not evolve to tell physicians what dose of levothyroxine a person should swallow every day. A low or suppressed TSH on replacement therapy is not the same thing as a low TSH in primary hyperthyroidism. If you have central hypothyroidism, the TSH will necessarily be low or completely suppressed on T4/T3 therapy; your physician must treat you according to symptoms and the free T4/free T3 levels.

40mcg of T3 isn't too high a dose - it all depends on the patient and the relief of symptom.

40mcg isn't too high a T3 dose, one of our Advisers took 150mcg daily as he had Thyroid Hormone Resistance.
