blood test timing

The advice seems to be to test Thyroid early in the morning, but would that not depend on whether you had underactive or overactive symptoms? In other words would you be looking for a higher or low level of TSH depending on which symptoms you have?

Not sure if I am making sense as I am having trouble understanding how the thyroid works. It is very complicated to me. I hope someone gets where I am coming from!

I understand what you're saying, but with hyperthyroidism there would be high levels of FT4/FT3 and an already low level of TSH.

You say you have symptoms of hypothyroidism, so you need the highest possible TSH for diagnosis which replies to your other thread explained how you should do your test.

If you've not already done so, have a look at ThyroidUK's main website - start here and work down the purple menu on the left hand side under About the Thyroid
