Hi Wendielee

Did you mean to post this on the Pelvic Pain Support Network forum ? Or perhaps Women's Health or try both ? You may get more replies on them.

Hi

I think if you click on the second symbol above then scroll down to "browse communities" then type in Women's Health in the search box then click on follow.

I wonder if it was caused by the nurse examination on the original scratch area so might settle down by itself ? But as it's been 5 weeks and , to be on the safe side you could see GP?

Any post menopausal bleed is supposed to be reported to GP. You are usually seen by Gynaecologist quickly (within weeks). I was seen quickly and had Transvaginal Ultrasound scan, Internal exam and then Hysteroscopy under General Anaesthetic (all within a matter of weeks ). The Gynaecologist thought it might be polyps but nothing found, thankfully.

When I first had the pmb I felt a lot better after calling a helpline and being told that only one in three turns to be something of concern.

However I've no experience of pessary or the cream applicator (was refused pessary!)

Yes I will call in the morn to see the nurse practitioner who has been dealing with me I just wondered if maybe the pessary has rubbed causing a small bleed , it’s so frustrating I suffer from health anxiety so I think the worse all the time I thought about going to the emergency room but don’t fancy a long wait

Why don't you see your GP rather than the nurse? Do you have an approachable female GP?

It doesn't really matter which GP you see - if you tell GP you have a bleed, no matter how light - it warrants urgent referal.

in reply to Mary-intussuception

I do trust the nurse practitioner so far and I haven’t met the female doctor only the male doctor whom I’ve know for years

It wasn't really from a trust point of view, just that I'm not sure if Nurse Practitioners can refer? Probably? Just know from personal experience that a pmb warrants immediate faxed referal, no internal by GP, and Gynaecologist appoinment comes through quickly.

Whether or not things have changed in last few years I don't know.

I have a friend who has a ring pessary. She recently had it routinely changed and the hospital gave her a different type. Over the weekend she bleed badly. Monday she went to the doctors, saw the new male GP who said to her

"What do you expect me to do, I'm not a gynaecologist".

I would like to say "Unbelieveable!". Sadly not at our surgery, typical of their attitude I'm afraid. I much prefer to see the Advanced Nurse Practioner, so much more approachable, he listens and accepts that you have a point of view and will discuss things with you.

"What do you expect me to do, I'm not a gynaecologist".

Some possible answers...

1) Do the job that you're paid for.

2) Since GPs are the gatekeepers of the NHS perhaps you can refer me as an emergency to a gynaecologist.

3) Perhaps you'd prefer me to go to A&E?

This is the one who I saw 4 times in 4 months for head pain. On the 5th time I took my son with me and this GP asked me

"Would you like some investigations, a CT scan?" (Jeez!!!)

I'm convinced it was because my son was there.

I went for the result of the scan and saw a different GP who said to me

"Well, you wouldn't have got a scan out of me".

I did say that I hadn't asked for the scan, it was offered, but .. well... you know what it's like HB.

I do. Without a doubt I do!

Yep! The one who said I wouldn't get a scan out of him is leaving at the end of this month, taking early retirement. I'd like to sign his leaving card with "Good riddance AH, you won't be missed".
