Thyroid medication late period

Hi I am 36 years old and this will be my first time trying for a little one with my husband. Recently, my doctor increased my dosage of Levo 75 mcg to 100 mcg to make sure all my levels are correct when trying to conceive. Supposedly, my levels were normal but the doctor wanted them lower. me and my husband started trying towards end of July and beginning of August I am now 5 days late. Pregnancy tests are all saying negative results. I’ve been having mild cramping on and off, back pains, migraines, nausea and sudden dry heaving, moody and wanting to just cry. My cycles are every 26-27 days sometimes a day early and sometimes a day late but never this late. Sex makes it come on as well..... at this point, I am thinking? it’s the thyroid medication stopping my period. But I’ve been on thyroid medication for 4 years and never had this happen even when the dosage went up. Not sure? If I should wait a week to test again or what I should do? If I could get some advice on what may be happening or if you have experienced this. I do see the doctor next week and had my thyroid levels checked last month. Don’t have my numbers on hand. I cannot answer your query but I do know that hypothyroidism can alter menstrual cycles.

I had my family before I had a problem but I do know period issues can be caused by Thyroid medication or lack of it. I wouldn't actively try until thinks have settled down and your doctor redoes the tests. It's important to get the TSH at the right level

I am sorry that I can’t help answer your questions but I wanted to wish you the best of luck. I started Levothyroxine to get my TSH levels under 2.5 before doing an IVF cycle. I found all the advice from this forum on what blood tests to request and vitamins to take really helpful and last weeks I had a healthy baby girl. I am sure the more knowledgeable members and administrators will point you in the right direction.

Just called the doctor for results in blood work this was before I started the 100 mcg. TSH 3.41 T4 12.7

Add the ranges that they gave you with the test results in brackets after the number, because lab ranges vary. Then people on the forum can give you an answer. Good luck !

Doctors office didn’t give me ranges just the numbers. I have to pay to actually get a copy of my results. That’s what I will have to do so this little one can happen and thank you x

Are you in the UK? Because I've been reading other people's questions and responses for a while now, and many people have said that the NHS cannot charge you for a copy of your labs. Some one please correct me if i am wrong.

I moved to the UK about 2 years ago from the US everything is so different. If that’s a thing I have to look into it. The GP practice told me I had to pay for the copies as they were wasting paper. 😐

Lol. I moved from the UK to the USA (CA). It's very different. How do you like warm soda, paying for refills and ketchup? Of course there are great things about both countries. I love both countries for different reasons. I'll see if I can find a link to another response about paying for test results.

Thank you so much! lol I lived on the east coast DE about 5-6 hrs from NY. Lol it’s not baaad 🤭 me and my husband were talking about the US but to move back we would have to be millionaires to keep up with health insurance etc it’s gotten really crazy expensive.

They are breaking the law. Speak to the Practice Manager and say that the Data Protection Act gives you the legal right to your medical records without charge

The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into effect in May 2018, says that practices will have to provide a free electronic copy of a patient's data, instead of charging fees of up to £50 per 'subject access request'.

And in England surgeries are supposed to provide online access to your results (I am in Wales, we don't have it at my surgery).

For a successful pregnancy TSH should apparently be below 2.5.

If you have an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism)

• If you are planning a pregnancy you should speak to your GP to arrange thyroid blood tests and ideally aim for a Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) level of less than 2.5mU/l at the time of conception

• It is recommended that your TSH should be less than 2.5mU/l in the first trimester of pregnancy and less than 3.0mU/l after that

• As soon as you know you are pregnant it is usually recommended that your levothyroxine is increased immediately by 25-50mcg daily. You should then contact your GP and arrange to have a thyroid blood test

Hi I’ve been on the same pills for 17 days I am 10 days late I got bloating back pain cramps I’m in pain for 10 days and if my period doesn’t come I stapled it like this because I have Endometriosissis I know it’s from the medication and definitely it’s from the medication with yours I’m never late I’m every 28 days every month for the last five years I want on the stupid medication and now I’m 10 days late God I hope it comes I’m in so much pain
