Medicheck results - grateful for any advice please

Hello,

My blood test results are as follows:

TSH 0.151 (0.27-4.20)

T4 22.400 (12-22)

FT3 4.61 (3.10-6.80)

Thyroid Peroxidaise Antibodies: 28 (0.00-34)

Thyroglobin Antibodies: 700 (0.00-115.00)

I currently take Levothyroxine 75mcg and 100mcg alternate days.

My Vits are as follows:

Ferritin 135 (13-150)

Vit D 87.4 (50.00-200)

Folate 17.51 (2.91-50)

B12 Over 300

I also take Ferrous Sulphate, Selenium, Vit D plus K2-MK7, B complex and B12 injections.

My Endocrinologist has retired and my GP does not understand autoimmune Hypothyroidism.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Anne,

I also have Hashi's - high antibodies.

How are you feeling?

How long have you been taking these doses? TSH is suppressed with high T4 and below mid-range T3. Do you have bloods from before you started the treatment?

Ferritin is excellent, vit D can be higher, same with folate and B12, how long have you been taking these supplements?

I would still recommend finding a new endo. I think someone here has a list of recommended endos.

Thank you for your reply. I have good and bad days. Sorry to see on your earlier post that you have not been feeling too good.

My B12 is over the range, but I need it to be like that because I have neurological symptoms.

For the last 15 months my TSH has been dropping and my T4 has been rising, my medication has risen slowly from 25mg to 100g and 75mg on alternate days. I have recently increased my Vit D, so that should improve shortly.

I am going to reduce my Levothyroxine to 75mg per day and then look into finding another Endocrinologist.

Thank you - I will get there eventually, but right now it's a rollercoaster!

I understand re B12, sorry, I thought it was under, wasn't sure what the ref range was.

Like so many Hashi's people, you are a poor converter. And I doubt there's much you can do about that, except at some T3 to a reduced dose of levo. It would seem unlikely that your doctor would agree to that, if he doesn't understand thyroid. But you could buy it yourself.

Yes, I suspected that was the case, thanks for confirming it.

I do have some Cynomel 0.025mg that I bought in France last year (it is still in date), but I am not sure how much I should take or in what ratio to the alternate days on 75mg and 100mg Levothyroxine - what would you recommend?

The ratio is not important. You follow the rules for taking hormones - start low and increase slowly till you feel well.

But, will you be able to get more Cynomel when that is finished? No point in starting it if you cannot guarantee a supply. It's a long-term medication, like levo.

You do know it's prescription only in France, don't you? You can't guarantee that you will be able to get it.

I did manage to purchase a packet from a pharmacy in France last year but thanks for letting me know it is precription only. I won't start taking them until I know I can get a regular supply whether that is here (privately) or in France.

Well, you will sometimes find a kind pharmacist who's willing to help a tourist in distress. But it couldn't become a permanent supply.
