Please could someone advise on my latest test results (ranges in brackets):

Thyroid Function

TSH: * <0.005 mIU/L (0.27 - 4.20)

FREE THYROXINE: 18.700 pmol/L (12.00 - 22.00)

FREE T3 * 7.75 pmol/L (3.10 - 6.80)

I am currently taking 2 grains of Erfa Thyroid daily (1 in the morning and one before bed). This will run out next week, when I will start on Thiroyd (from Thailand). My T3 is over range, but all my vitamin results look good.

Does anyone know if Thyroid is less effective than Erfa? I am hoping to keep to 2 grains, as it's fiddly trying to cut tablets up. Would it be ok to try 2 grains of Thyroid and test again in a few weeks? Or should I cut my dose immediately?

Thanking all you knowledgeable peeps, in advance!

Hi. How long before the blood test did you take your last dose of NDT? I have to say I’d be inclined to stick with the same dose if I was feeling well on it and see how you feel on the new NDT. You’ll really only know by trying it because we’re all different.

I have started splitting my dose, and the last dose I took was 1 grain about 9 hours before the blood draw. I do feel well on 2 grains a day, so was disappointed to see my T3 was above the range. I think you are right, I will try and keep to 2 grains when I change brands, and see how I feel. I can always test again in a few weeks.

I take Thyroid S & looking at my copy of 'Stop The Thyroid Madness' :-

An Erfa 60mg tablet contains 35mcg T4 & 8mcg T3.

A Thyroid-S 60mg tablet contains approx 38mcg T4 & 9mcg T3.

Hopefully someone else can come along & confirm if the difference in T4&T3 amounts between the 2 tablets would matter and allow you to take 2 Thyroid -S from the off.

It's my first time on NDT so still learning as I go.

I have a craft knife to cut my tablets & it's so precise, does a grand job.

Thanks for this info. The craft knife sounds like a great idea, my pill cutter isn't always very accurate.
