Hi folks

Looks like I need a Levo increase? Test was taken at 10am so I’m not surprised that the tsh is lower than usual (there was a delay in clinic)

I need help with being pointed in the right direction for vitamin b12 and folate. I’m Concerned it’s absorption because my Diet should cover it and although I’m nowhere near gluten free, it’s not a big part of my diet. Does the gluten have to go completely? I’m not very impressed with the medichecks gp who remarks that my medication must be right because tsh, t4 and t3 are in range, although he does advise supplementing b12 and folate.

tsh 1.63 (0.27 - 4.2)

Free Thyroxine 15.6 (12 - 22)

Free t3 3.6 (3.1-6.8)

TPO ab 212 (0 -34)

Active b12 34.3 (25.1-165)

Folate serum 5.68 (2.91 - 50)

25 OH Vit D 70.7 (50 - 200)

Ferratin 67.3 (13-150)

Edited with typed results because the jpg is really feint!

Thanks in advance 🙂

Yes you could do with a 25 mcg increase of levothyroxin to get your TSH to 1 or under, and raise FT3 to halfway plus of range. Then retest after 6-8 weeks, and if necessary add another 25 mcg etc. Of the 3 Vit/ mins you tested all are somewhat low to be optimum for good thyroid health and T4 conversion: Vit D is better at 100-150 nmol/l; your folate should be mid range, and B12 near the top of the range. Ferritin is a touch low, but if you are still menstruating then needs to be more 100-130 ug/l level. I've found B12 and Vit D easier to take sublingually, bypassing any poor gut absorption from Hashimoto's : I have Vit D drops with K2( mark7), but sprays are available too. Look up previous replies to posts by SeasideSusie for recommended brands, doses etc. Do you take selenium, magnesium, zinc etc too? Worth trying going totally gluten free for a few months....by the time I discovered it didn't seem to make any difference, but after 12 years of Hashimoto's perhaps it was too late!
