Hello All,
I just wanted to ask is anyone using Betaine Hydrochloric Acid? If so, are you finding it helpful and which brand do you recommend and how much do you take per day?
Many thanks.

For info on low stomach acid and how to dose betaine with pepsin see these links :

I don't take Betaine + Pepsin myself. I did try it for a while a few years ago, but I have stomach damage from painkiller use. I found the Betaine + Pepsin was great to begin with. I no longer had indigestion and I had more energy. But after a few weeks the stomach damage started causing problems and I had to stop taking the capsules. But I really wish I could take them.
I can't recommend a brand, sorry. But avoiding the mistakes listed in the fourth link above will help to make whatever you take more likely to be successful.
There's another thread on the subject of Betaine HCl going on at the moment. You might like to read that one :
I use Vitacost's brand of betaine HC1 with pepsin. I take one with each meal. Higher doses are recommended but I am happy with my one per meal. lol... I can still up the dosage if I feel the need but so far, so good. I was getting a 'sour' stomach and a little burning in the back of my throat sometimes but it seems that is mostly alleviated with the betaine. Being hypo slows everything down and until this year, I had no problem. But I am now in my mid-seventies and age is catching up with me.
I am in the states but I think Vitacost ships overseas.. vitacost.com/vitacost-betai...
Here are some brands offered on Amazon.UK.... I am familiar with the Swanson, Thorne and Now brands and would trust them. Just make sure you get
the betaine with pepsin.

Some of the other brands may be 100% acceptable ... just do your homework and read the reviews. Do be careful if you have ulcers. Nature's Lining is excellent to repair thinning stomach lining if that is a problem for you.
