Where do I go from here?

Today I went to see my GP with the results of my private blood tests. Also other information I had downloaded from ThyroidUK. Although very sympathetic she was not prepared to start me on Levothyroxine as she said that ethically she could not issue a prescription as my results were within the guidelines to which she had to work. She was worried that her insurance would not be valid if she did so. It was agreed that she would write a letter to an endo setting out the list of symptoms that I had given to her. She said she would seek their advice. In the meantime she asked if anyone on HealthUnlocked could recommend a consultant who she could also write to, who might be sympathetic and understand my thyroid numbers. I did ask for a trial of levothyroxine but this was refused. The dr did say that thyroid problems were not really in her area of expertise.

In the meantime I am taking my vitamins and supplements. I feel really let down once again, but hope you lovely people can help me to pick up my spirits. Thanks.

I previously posted my blood test results and I live in North Yorkshire. Thanks for replying.

Hope you are getting your folate and Vit D up with supplements: folate to half way thru range, VitD 100-150, as well worth doing to make sure your thyroid health/ conversion is good, plus low levels of these can give symptoms akin to some thyroid ones. Your results did appear to show your thyroid was struggling with low range results, but these are now two months old, so perhaps need retesting ( don't bother with RT3... just shows something not working properly, but not what). At least your doctor sounds as though she was straight with you why she couldn't give you Thyroid meds, and willing to send you to whatever endo you find...so not all bad, just very time consuming.

I am using the Better You Vitamin K2 oral spray and also the their Dlux spray. Other suppliments are Ester-C, B-100, 2 x curcumin tabs, Q10, Evening primrose oil, Cod liver oil, and a Centrum Advance 50+ which has a variety of vits including folic acid. Should I be taking this in another form? I also use magnesium oil. I have put myself on a high fat, low carb diet, and I think that is agreeing with me. Thank you for your advice.

Some find going too low on carbs is bad for thyroid health and conversion, but you are not necessarily in a position to know that yet. Folate is best as methyl hydro folate, but a good B Complex like Jarrow has 400 mcg in a pill anyway. It might be Centrum that mixes up too many vitamins etc ie hope it doesn't contain iron, calcium etc. Selenium is good for conversion. Look at SeasideSusie's old replies to posts she is very good on vits/ mins.

Thank you for your advice. I will watch the low carbs, although I do have porridge for breakfast plus seeds etc. I have a couple of brazil nuts every night for the selenium. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

I am on a high fat low carb eating diet and have already lost some of the weight around my stomach. I am not overweight, just 54K, but had noticed the weight settling there. I was probably eating too much fruit as well, to help with the constipation. Could you please tell me how I go about self treating with NDT- a p.m. if this is in order. My doctor seems to be so afraid of harming me with thyroxine but isn't it as bad to just ignore my symptoms. Isn't that harming me as well? Any help is appreciated.

Start a new post asking for supplier recommendations (by private message) for NDT without prescrition. You'll need to buy regular private blood tests

Thank You, I will do that. Someone has already given me a supplier, but I would like to see where others get theirs from, just to see if the suppliers name I have keeps coming up.
