Hi all,

My levo was in increased from 75mcg to 100mcg. I had my labs done last week which was almost 7 weeks later and my TSH dropped to

1.63 from 2.66 Ui/ML

However, my free T4 dropped too with increase. It was

1.5ng/dL on 75 mcg and dropped to

1.4ng/dL on 100mcg

My free T3 also dropped it was

2.89 pg/ml on 75mcg and

2.68 pg/ml on 100mcg

The manufacturer is mylan so nothing changed.

I did not leave the office without a script for cytomel/liothyronine sod 5mcg to start. I will retest in six weeks.

Do you take these at the same time? I’m

praying this makes a difference. I am continuing on 100mcg of levothyroxine too.

Also, if I need the t3 increased is that done in 5 mcg increments?

I look forward to hearing from all of you my dear thyroid friends. If it weren’t for you and your sharing of personal experience and great articles, I would not have had a clue of how to get better. The GP almost started me on 25mcg of liothyronine. I almost choked! They wanted to increase the levo too, which I kindly declined. Gracious do they not look at the numbers.. GAH!!!!

I gained 2 pds so I’m up to 107 now. 🙈

Looking forward to some advise from all of you. @shaws, @greygoose @SlowDragon

When you put tags on to draw attention - after the @ sign and the first couple of letters look further down the page and you will see a list of suggestions and click on the one you want, i.e. SlowDragon and greygoose otherwise the person wont be alerted.

I think I'd have jumped at the 25mcg of T3 (approx to around 100mcg of T4). :)

You can add the 5mcg T3 to T4 and any further increases you get. I find a one daily dose (of whatever I've taken) gives me a life that is more 'free' and I don't have to bother about having an empty stomach etc. being mindful that this is a lifestyle from now on in that we should not miss doses.

I hope you feel the benefit soon.

Shaw’s thank you! The doc made me leering because of my weight and my already rapid heart rate. I figured I’d start slow and increase it as needed. Doc had no problem doing that. I’m staying on 100mcg of levo and adding the 5 mcg of cytomel starting tomorrow. Do you take both at the same time? Should I take the t3 a couple hours after taking the levo in the morning on empty stomach?

Take both together as it is easier to find a window when our stomach is empty. Usually when we get up with one glass of water and wait an hour before eating. The dose of 5mcg is quite low against 100mcg of levo.

Shaws,

You were right about the 25mcg of T3. I am feeling better with just 5mcg, but I definitely will need increase. I can’t believe how much difference the small dose of T3 is making. My vision is more clear, I’m not as fatigued, food tastes much better and I’m not as cold all the time. The aching in my joints is better too. It’s been 10 days. I go back to doc August 2nd. I will ask for increase then. Hopefully he will offer the 25mcg and I can do a split dose? Is it okay to jump from 5mcg T3 to 25mcg in your opinion?

Guessing you are based in USA?

What are your levels of vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12?

Can you add results and ranges on these. Vitamins need to be optimal for using T3 and T4. What supplements do you take?

Are you on strictly gluten free diet as you have Hashimoto's?

Starting on low dose T3 recommended. 1/4 tablet - 5mcg (or 6.25 if it's 25mcg tablets) .

T3 can help improve sleep, so you might find taking it at bedtime good. Or start with 1/4 tablet initially on waking.

If/when you add 2nd 1/4 tablet (in few weeks time ) then either taking at bedtime if it helps sleep, or mid-afternoon if not

Retesting bloods after 6-8 weeks on 2 x 1/4 tablet T3 strongly recommended

I am in the USA . I’m on D3 as that was low Iin 2016. I take 30,000 iu a week now down from taking 50,00. My ferritin is 69. I know that could be higher but in the states they say that is good? I take B12 liquid my b12 is 870pg/ml can’t find my folic acid number. I know it was checked and not low.. So many results to sift through. I am gluten dairy and soy free.

The main concern with t3 with me is my heart rate runs about 110-120 during the day and I’m to thin. 5’9 and 106.8pds. I opted to start at 5mcg and test in 7 weeks. It’s scary when your heart rate hits 150bpm. I am supposed to let him know if it increases from the T3. I took it at 6:30am and it is 7:38am and no bad feeling yet.

I always react opposite of the norm, so maybe it will help my heart rate. If all goes well he will add 5mcgs at a time. Thank you for all your knowledge. I would not have had a clue of how to handle the doc if it weren’t for this group. 🙏🌹 Im sure this won’t be my last post or questions.. ☺️
