Could somebody look at my blood test results please and tell me if everything's okay? Thank you.

Hi, I posted on the cholesterol community and they told me to post my blood test results here. This is what was in my post over at cholesterol:

Hi, I recently had a blood test at work and haven't had chance to take the results to my GP yet. I should start by saying I have a family history of heart disease/problems. My maternal grandmother had a stroke in her late 40s and died of a heart attack aged 54. My mother is displaying signs of what could be early heart problems (she's 48) but she refuses to go to the GP so we may not find out until something happens. I am 21 and female.

I'm not sure if thyroid can affect any of that but hopefully somebody can tell me. Thanks :)

I've added my results as a photo.

Your TSH is low, which is good. But FT4 is also quite low.

There's no FT3 or, more importantly, no thyroid antibodies test

You really want both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Plus FT3

Your B12 is on low side, though GP won't think so

There's no vitamin D test

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4, TT4, FT3 plus TPO and TG thyroid antibodies, very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's. Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances are very common too, especially gluten. So it's important to get TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once .

Ask GP to test thyroid antibodies and vitamin D

If GP unhelpful cheapest test for just vitamin D is vitamindtest.org.uk £29 postal kit

Medichecks or Blue Horizon can test TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus BOTH TPO and TG antibodies

Hi thanks for your helpful reply! I should have mentioned sorry, I recently had a Vit D test and was found to be deficient at 33.7 (50-250) which I am taking meds for, and a few months ago my folate level was 2.3, its higher now because I also had medication for that.

Is my T4 a bit low? I thought it was basically in the middle of the range and that that made it normal. I will have a look into the private testing, thank you :)

Low vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin are all often linked to hypothyroidism, especially Hashimoto's

High Cholesterol and hypothyroidism linked too

Oh and also you're right, the GP won't even glamce at my B12 level because its in normal ranges. It was 167 in February which was only just above the range, but no mention of it just that it was normal. Although I'm sure they were supposed to recheck it if it was borderline but they didnt.

If you read posts on here you will see that is pretty common

Supplementing a good quality vitamin B complex with folate in rather than folic acid may be of benefit. Eg Igennus Super B complex or Jarrow B right

If you have symptoms of low B12 then you may also need sublingual B12 or Vitamin B12 mouth spray

b12deficiency.info/signs-an...

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 3-5 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results
