I have been extremely, extremely unwell this last week.
It culminated in my collapsing on Wednesday in the refrigerated vegetable department at Sainsbury's.
I have had to take things incredibly slowly, measuring every single thing I do... Without exception.
The last time I experienced attacks like this was 10 years ago.
So I know the drill.
Failure to handle my present level of pain appropriately, will result in a downward spiral of incessant pain that can last up to six miserable life altering months...
I have to be extremely cautious and selfish- explaining to my insensitive partner that I have to decline an all-day party do at his mother's, where the chairs are too uncomfortable, none of the food is gluten/dairy/soya free and the ignorant & backward company present are the last individuals on the planet that I would wish to sit opposite to at a table! I have complete contempt for half the people to be invited!! I do my best to hide it and tolerate them for my partner's sake, but 'ow I am the priority and these petty fogging ignorant people can do without me, let's tongues wagging, I just don't care.
Thankfully, my dear brother has shown me how to dictate to my phone, as having to write all this, is just beyond me right now.
I shall do my best to chunter on through all the requests for my kefire prep instructions..
I must rest now...

Ohhhh Poppy_the_cat!!!! I am so sorry about you being unwell and collapsing in Sainsbury!!! How awful, for you!!! I am also sad to hear that you have an insensitive partner, that so sucks. Thank you for reminding me to be more grateful to my "clueless," but very sensitive partner when he returns home tonight. : ) I hope you find some respite soon. xxxx
ahh wee Poppy, I can only say I understand what it is to collapse and be unwell. Sounds like you are doing everything correctly, protect your self and your health until you feel stronger. These things take time. Be patient and I send you my very best wishes for a good recovery.

I also have a very similar situation and no one seem's to understand how poorly we can be and feel, and we try our best to keep everyone happy, but YOU are the most important, and your health, sending you all the GOOD LUCK, and Best Wishes and get better soon Poppy.
You are having a really tough time and I agree that you must put yourself first and rest up until you begin to feel better. I'm sorry that your partner is no support, that must make life even more difficult for you. I think you are doing the right thing in staying away from his families get together...... take time to pamper yourself and forget about trying to please others. It definitely makes this vile illness so much harder to deal with when you have such phenomenal ignorance to deal with...and then the emotional blackmail when you're not well. I know his family think I'm some sort of malingering drama Queen. It's amazing how childish and ignorant some people can be! If you haven't got your head under your arm, or a visible cast on your leg, then you are not really ill !!!!!!
I have very little patience with them. They can't even comprehend the concept of what the autoimmune system is, let alone gluten intolerance. I was told "oh, I thought you'd got over that?!"
Dealing with such incredibly blatant ignorance is tedious, but I treat it with the contempt it deserves. And in the immortal words if Rhet Butler "Quite frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!"
