Post partum weaning

It’s been a while since I posted on here. Just thought I’d update this community incase anyone else needed info/inspiration on this subject.

I’m almost off thyroid medication - I’ve 10 days to go after a 3 month weaning period supported by an endocrinologist .

I turned to medication in desperation to conceive when in hindsight I could have watched and waited . I’d miscarried twice and was stressed . The thyroid was affected ( hypo)

2 years later having used NDT I’m nearly off. It has been pretty smooth and I’ve enjoyed everything I always enjoy - running, healthy lifestyle . I had 2 days of brain fog at the end of the 2nd month . That’s it . (It almost felt like a reshuffling from med to thyroid period !?)

If anyone else is querying post partum I’m happy to share my experience . It’s looking positive and will see how things go in the next few months .

If it transpires that my thyroid is permanently damaged and hasn’t kicked in then fine - It needs suppprt and that’s ok too.

Right - thanks for your time everyone and as always thanks for the provision of this resource to the thyroid community .

But if you had thyroid problems before conceiving - which you obviously did - -then it's not post partum thyroiditis. Have you had your antibodies tested?

Yes tested - clear

Conceived before I discovered thyroid . No thyroid issues until stress and two miscarriages .

Always been fit - one healthy pregnancy .

Fertility issues only since being on the medication .

I thought you said you went on the medication because of fertility issues.

Well only from the perspective of nothing happening Greygoose.

The hypothydroidism only really manifested itself around the time of stress and miscarriages when I asked for a test.

I wouldn’t say I had had any obvious thyroid issues before that .

At the time Dr P felt stress had knocked it out of whack and we did watch but not for long enough as I was so desperate to conceive and assumed if I took thyroid med I would fall pregnant .

The endocrinologist said he would have queried PP much earlier if I had consulted him but I didn’t .

Yes indeed ....

(I’m 46 Greygoose ... probably that’s a factor too)

Happy with my health at the moment 😃

Well, I don't really think your age is a factor, no.

Not in thyroid - in egg quality for a baby x

Although on testing it’s synomous with a 41 year olds egg quality but not sure how much I buy into all that .

Focus is less on babies more on thyroid health anyway currently !
