Reactions to Teva thyroxine

I know a lot of people have posted about the difference in brands of thyroxine and side effects but wondered if anyone has suffered from bloating/gas from taking Teva thyroxine. I've only just started on it 4 weeks ago but have been feeling very uncomfortable for a week now and am wondering if it's from the Teva.

Do a search on Teva Levothyroxine and you will see the side effects that others have had on it.

it made me very ill as had been taking it about 9 months when I discovered it was Teva that was causing it all, I can’t rememeber if that was one of the symptoms as memory isn’t that good, but I had many symptoms happen after taking it, if that’s the only thing you have changed recently in your meds I would suspect it will be the Teva that’s causing it,

one thing you must make sure you do if you decide to stay on that brand is have a thyroid blood test as with any change in brands always have bloods done 6 weeks after starting them as the fillers work differently on everyone so you may need different dosage in them

many have had trouble with Teva ..

Many thanks for your reply Pascha1, I've had a look and it does seem that many people have bad reactions to it. Just hope I can find one that I can tolerate better.

Almost definitely the Teva. One of the ingredients, Mannitol is whats called a FODMAP, basically a food that can ferment in your gut. I don't tolerate it at all, it has me running for the loo and very uncomfy. Get back to your GPs and ask them to prescibe anything other than the Teva brand.

Thanks for your reply, that's interesting what you say about Mannitol. My stomach feels really uncomfortable and is constantly gurgling. Have spoken to my GP and hopefully another brand will be better. Which one have you found works best for you?

I now have the liquid which is very expensive but neither lactose containing brands or Teva suit me. It's really a matter of trial and error and it took me a long time to get the liquid prescribed due to cost.

Teva add it as a filler, an inert substance - which it isn't. Lloyds stock Teva because it's cheaper. Take it back and demand a replacement from your pharmacist and report it to Teva.
