Back on NDT

Hello everyone, I posted my values which showed I was at 3.810 and T3 was normal but T4 was low after stopping Armour . My doctor put me on a low dose of 25 mg of levothyroxine two weeks ago which only made me feel worse! I only took it for a week .

I was on 90mg Armour for 6 months but had become hyper thyroid. I was on Naturethroid 97.5 mg for 4 yrs before starting Armour. did well but then I started gaining weight . Naturethroid went out of stock last year and that’s why I was put on Armour

Fast forward to this week , I told my doctor the low-dose of level thyroxine wasn’t doing anything my muscles were hurting so he put me back on 65 mg of Naturethroid

So far my temp has risen and the moon face is getting better after only 5 days on the Naturethroid. Hopefully I wasn’t too hasty in my decision to quit Levothyroxine. But I honestly feel better on Naturethroid and I’m so happy he agreed to put me back on it. Only one pharmacy can fill it as it’s out of stock in most places. Anyone else take NDT and prefer that to Levothyroxine?

Many members take NDT and they are happy with the outcome. How did you become 'hyper' on Armour? I don't mean hyperthyroid but you must have had sensations which made you think you'd taken too much. Maybe you should just have dropped to the previous dose. I do admit it is trial and error for many of us but there's no quick solution, slow and steady is best.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Never had any “hyper “ feelings while in Armour . my only symptom was feeling very hot but it wasn’t until I had lab work done which showed a TSH of 0.007

Which is very low. Guess my thyroid was suppressed?

Seems like NDT is the way to go and hopefully this is the correct dose!
