Dangerous, no. But it will make you feel ill. Why didn't you remind her about it? It certainly does need to be retested, and if it's still high, you should be put on thyroid hormone replacement immediately. Not dangerous, but urgent! Go back to your doctor and remind her straight away. :)

Unless over 50, frail or heart condition the standard starter dose is 50mcgs Levothyroxine

NHS guidelines saying standard starter dose is 50mcgs

You also need to know if the cause is due to autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto's. This is diagnosed by testing TPO and TG thyroid antibodies. If these have not been tested request that they are

About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's. Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances are very common too, especially gluten. So it's important to get TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once .

How low was your vitamin D result and how much have you been prescribed?

Have you had ferritin, folate and B12 tested? If not ask these are tested too

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after starting on Levothyroxine and dose is increased in 25mcg steps. Retesting 6-8 weeks after each dose increase until TSH is around one and FT4 towards top of range and FT3 at least half way in range

Always take Levo on empty stomach and then nothing apart from water for at least an hour after. Many take on waking, but it may be more convenient and possibly more effective taken at bedtime

Many people find Levothyroxine brands are not interchangeable. Once you find a brand that suits you, best to make sure to only get that one at each prescription.

Unless lactose intolerant, it's best to avoid starting on Teva brand, as many people react badly to this brand.

Watch out for brand change when dose is increased

She had no need to repeat a blood test, for goodness sake, your TSH was 14.5. Not dangerous but symptomatic. My TSH was 100 when, finally, diagnosed I was very, very unwell but am fine now thanks to Thyroiduk.org.uk. In other countries Hypo is diagnosed if TSH goes above 3. In UK for some unknown reason they make us wait until it is 10.
