I know there are people living in France on this forum and we will soon be joining you in Hylda for a four month holiday. As I can’t get my T3 or T4 tested by a Dr in the U.K. could I get in done by a French Dr. Used to have my Warfarin monitored when we kept a yacht in France.

I don't know about France, but if you live in the UK normally you can buy blood tests without the involvement of a doctor. If you use finger-prick testing you don't need a phlebotomist either.

These companies are popular on the forum :

medichecks.com/thyroid-health

bluehorizonmedicals.co.uk/t...

If it interests you you could ask for advice on which test(s) to buy.

Depends on the doctor. Some refuse to test T3, others will if you ask them nicely. They are convinced it's not necessary, just like UK GPs, and don't understand the results. But, as you're paying, they might be more amenable.

But you do know they don't take blood at the surgery, don't you? You have to go to a laboratory - there's one on every high street. :)

Yes, we kept a boat in Cherbourg for eight years and I was on Warfarin at the time. The next boat was owned by a French Dr who would give me a form to take the to the lab and he would advise on adjustments

Hi Hilda, I remembered reading your post some time ago so scrolled around till I found it. This info might be useful to you :-

Type out all the blood tests you require (in French I could send you the translation if necessary) and take to your local laboratory tell them verrrry nicely in your best it’s french that you wish to pay for the tests.

I made an appointment for 8.00 am this morning had TSH FT4 FT4 TPO & TG antibodies out by 8.10 am total cost €58 results will be emailed by 4.00 pm today. So easy, and so efficient.

Where in France are you moving to?

Kind regards

We just potter around France in our Motorhome each summer but thank you for thinking of me. Home now. Have just paid Medichecks £45 for same test. Will try slicing my finger Monday.
