Changing from Armour Thyroid to Nutri Meds Bovine. Help?

Trying to come off porcine thyroid and have started bovine Nutri Meds. I can't seem to find anywhere that I can compare dosages. Anyone change from Armour thyroid to Nutri Meds bovine? What was your experience? It's been 14 days and I feel terrible...I have awful symtpoms so I'm thinking my dosage isn't correct or this brand isn't working for me at all. Any suggestions on dosage comparison? Or your experience?

I learned of Dr. Lowe many years ago and knew they had a formula of bovine thyroid called ThyroGold. It is far less potent than porcine and I knew people were taking much higher doses in comparison with other NDTs. Here are some answered questions that may help. naturalthyroidsolutions.com...

I am not sure as Heloise states that Thyro-gold is 'far less potent. Dr L (being also a scientist and doctor) removed something deliberately so that it could be sold-over the counter without the need for a prescription. There was one dose initially now there ae two,

Two extracts from - one from STTM and another from a past post:

"THYROGOLD, called a “supplement” , was created by the now-deceased John C. Lowe, and his wife currently sells it. Comes in 150 mg and 300 mg tablets. The mgs is NOT equivalent to the same mgs in prescription NDT tablets. i.e. 150 mg may be “similar in effect” to 1 1/4 grains, but that’s a subjective opinion by some. The thyroid powder in the tablets are from New Zealand pasture-fed cows, plus there is 25 mg of Coleus forskohlii, which is said to promote thyroid function. It is a popular OTC product.

It is difficult to advise on the amount to take. It has to be trial and error. I would begin at a lower amount - as said above 'it's subjective' because some feel better on the smaller dose and some the larger.

Ideally you should have a blood test before you change medication so that you can compare. You should get another blood test six weeks later on your new meds but, if you feel you need a small increase I would leave a decent gap between the increase and a blood test, also take into account how you feel. You don't take medication on the morning of your blood test, take it afterwards."

Another excerpt:

You take it as a replacement to levothyroxine. Dr Lowe invented it and because of the USA regulations it is a 'supplement' but many are happy with it and it is a non-prescription. He was also an Advisor to Thyroiduk.org before his accidental death but his wife, Tammy, runs the Thyro-gold now and you can look at reviews.

They do two measures now as the initial dose many people found was quite strong so they had to split capsules.

Like any other thyroid hormone replacement: one might suit one person but not another.

I took Nutri meds bovine years ago before I started on T3 and when I didn't have any actual meds. it is not a substitute for NDT and may or may not contain any actual hormone. It's just a glandular supplement. If you want a bovine supplement with actual hormones in it, look for Thyro Gold. Or go for synthetic thyroxine and t3 if you can't tolerate pigs.

Metavive have both porcine and bovine versions. The bovine are twice the dosage of the porcine for the same effect.
