I’d be so grateful for any comments about my 11 year old son’s results. My husband and I both have Hashimoto’s.

With many thanks

Hi Kipsy

Your son's Ferritin looks good - so it would seem he is absorbing his good diet and at this moment in time has low anti-bodies - so no Hashimotos.

The TSH is raised by adult standards - perhaps OK for the young ones ! Maybe a bit of research in that area is needed ! A TSH over 2.5 in adults suggest the thyroid is struggling - but not sure about children.

His VitD is low in range and it is often suggested here that 100 + would be better. His B12 is also below the magic 500. Did you know that the lady who wrote the book - Could it Be B12 ? - Sally Pacholok - has also written a book especially for children re B12. Am sure it will appear on google.

Folate - too could do with a nudge - it works in a special way with B12 in the body - so maybe taking a pot of Jarrow Methycobalamin 1000mcg lozenges along with a Thorne Research B Complex should sort his levels quickly.

Something I am not too knowledgeable about is the fact that the FT3 level seems reasonable - as I believe if the thyroid is struggling it pushes out more T3 from the thyroid itself .... read it somewhere here !

Hope all is well ....

Thanks again Marz. The little chap has happily started B12 spray, Jarrows B Right, 2000iU of D3 and I’ve popped him on to K2 MK7 too. He’s had aching legs and joints for ages and, as you know, low mood and no energy so I’m very hopeful that these vitamins will help. Thank you xx

So good to hear - he is blessed to have you both as parents - taking good care and keeping a close eye. So glad he is happy with taking the spray :-) Also 20 minutes in the sun between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm - with as much skin showing as possible - should help the VitD levels. They say 40% of skin to be revealed. Even on cloudy days there are UVB rays coming through onto the skin.

Further testing of B12 will show skewed results once supplementing - so as you cannot overdose I would keep him on a maintenance dose after the summer ....

Hope you are taking care of you too :-) xx

Thank you! I’m confident that once he starts to feel more energetic, he’ll get outside more but I will try to encourage it! So sweet of you to think of me- yes, I’m good thanks. The T3 is working wonders and I feel very different- normal energy, positive mood, fewer aches and pains etc. We have our Ausssie volunteers here for three weeks and, despite the extra cooking etc, it’s nice to have new faces around. They are delightful and have already painted a couple of sheds. The final cows have now gone so that’s a huge pressure off my mind. How’s the hip? Have you had any more success with your consultant? Xx

Well all the action sounds so positive and so glad you are feeling better - WOW ! The outer hip issues have all but disappeared and I have been walking normally for the past couple of weeks. Now it is actually within the left hip joint - in the groin area - that is painful. Have been swimming loads which has possible cured one problem and created another ! My Dear Mum always said - a movable pain - was a curable pain ! - so am off for another swim ! They are threatening rain and thunderstorms. Guests leaving tomorrow - back to Germany - and friends arriving from UK on Tuesday. Not the lady from Waitrose !! Still cannot get over that one !

So now all the cows have gone you will have to set up some yurts for glamping ! I dream of having a huge yurt for yoga - but of course it is only a dream !

Glad the Aussies are working well - :-)

FANTASTIC news about your walking. Wow- what a difference!!! Sorry to hear the pain has shifted but hopefully you can work on that area. Sounds like you're v busy as always- good to get friends over though. I will bear the yurts idea in mind- there is a water supply so it might not be such an impossible task! Quite fancy doing AirBnb but suspect the new job might take every spare minute once it gets properly up & running.

Have a great weekend! Xx
