My lumps.

Hi I know this has nothing to do with Thyroid but I have 2 soft like jelly lumps just below my ankles and on each knee. It hurts so much when I walk. So please anyone out there know what they are

Looks like fluid retention, I have something similar. Thyroid conditions cause odema which is fluid retention

I understand your frustration, mine seem to have a life of their own. They swell up randomly, especially if I've been on my feet or walking a lot.

Try soaking your legs in Epsom salts, it helps debloat and drain away any retained fluids.

Mucin, more than likely. I know the problem well. The best thing is to optimise your T3, but that's not always easy.

Try taking turmeric/curcumin. I find that works very well. Try taking it at night.

Can you pinch your skin together in the puffy areas? If not think mucin, or to use it's other name myexedema.

Yes I can pinch the skin above, the lump underneath feels like a sack with something in it.

Which foot is it? Oedema in my case started on the left foot/ankle. If you push your fingertips into the swelling, does it leave an impression?

In the first instance, always elevate your foot above heart level if possible when sitting down, as gravity will disperse the fluid naturally. Lay off any fizzy drinks and caffeine as much as possible and drink water to flush your system.

If it persists, I would speak to your dr as you may need to check your bloods for a possible increase in medication. Even may be prescribed a mild diuretic.

Any aches will be the pressure on your ankle. If it goes red, make sure it is not infected. Oedema has it's own agenda of problems including breathlessness.

Take care and get it checked out. Nip it in the bud, before it gets worse.

Hi Jollydolly, I have them on both ankles and both knees. I'm so fed up with them as my foot really hurts and burning feeling around it burns and also hurts when I walk. My doctors don't seem to know what they. I'm so fed up with it all.😢

It does sound like oedema. I get the burning in my feet at night. Thankfully my hubs does massage them for me. It is so frustrating though as I can't get shoes to fit. Can you leave an impression with your finger when you press the lump in? I would get a second opinion my lovely if I was you.

Ankle Bursitis? I had it in my knees when I was having an early flare up. Fluid filled sacks in the joints are affected between tendon and joint. Reducing antibodies may help. It is common in Graves.

How weird! I have the same on both my ankles over the bone like yours, none behind the ankle bone. I wondered what they were....had them about 10 years now....one day nothing, the next day there they were!!! I know it is not fluid because I can pitch the skin up fine, just feels like a jelly contained sac underneath! watching this thread with interest :0) nothing on my knees though.

Yes, of course, that would tie in bursitis (in my case it has been known as housemaid's knee) being caused by Hashi's flares and with Graves' disease which both result in t3 overload. Either may initially be due to high antibodies as well, so it'd be worthwhile having those checked too.

I have the same, two soft bumps on both feet, both are on the outer sides of my ankles. They don’t cause me any pain though, So bizarre, and I hate them.

Lipomas. If they are encapsulated and move around. I have them too. Some of mine grow into muscle etc. they are noncancerous fat tumors. Cosmetic. If you can say they cause pain like shoes cutting into them the insurance will cover it. Can be done in the office. Cheaper. Prob have some swelling too
