Advice on purchasing t3?

Hi,

Can anyone PM me places to buy Cytomel or Tiromel online?

And also give me advice on whether you guys think it would work for me?

I’ve had Hashimotos for 2 years. Now on a 200mcg dose with only small reduction in TSH and small increase in t3. They are both out the range despite my dose. Antibodies still high despite complete change in diet (no gluten etc). And I’m still having symptoms - weight gain, freezing cold, no energy and worst of all, no motivation. I am consistent with my meds. I take them at night to maximize absorption. My iron, folate, b12 etc are all perfect as my gp has checked these for me. I’m a student and had to drop out this year as I couldn’t handle the long hours as I was always tired! My GP is great but will not prescribe t3. But I think for some reason I am not converting the t4 to t3! Basically, I’m now resorting to buying meds online to feel just a little bit better.

Thanks for any help guys,

Sarah

Can you post your test results, with reference ranges. That way we can see if you are converting and whether T3 will help. Ideally we need to see

TSH

FT4

FT3

All tested at the same time.

Also, post your vitamin and miner results, because what your GP thinks is perfect might not actually be optimal.

Hi there. I had my thyroid removed 10 years ago. In all this time I have never been able to have a doctor prescribe T3 for me. I just started an over the counter NDT this week so unfortunately I can't tell you how it's working yet. But I replied because I think an over the counter NDT may be the only way for you to get some T3. At least that's all I have been able to figure out.

Hi Saz16. Your TSH is way too high - it should be around 1, what is your GP doing about this? Have you been referred to an endocrinologist?

Your fT4 is at the top of the range and your fT3 is way below range so this does suggest that you’re not converting well. Vitamins, ferritin and folate look fine so they don’t seem to be affecting your conversion.

If your GP raises your levothyroxine any further, chances are that your fT4 would go above range but your fT3 would still be below or very low in range. It’s the low fT3 that causes the symptoms.

Have you got test results for your thyroid peroxidase and/or thyroglobulin antibodies?

You need Selenium (Se) to convert T4 to T3. Se is the catalyst for that reaction. Get a blood test to measure your blood level of Se and if it is found to be low start a supplement for Se or eat 2 Brazil nuts per day. Do this for about 6 weeks and see how you feel. If you feel any better, get another blood test for Se TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. Your T3 should rise, I am not sure what your TSH will do but I would be interested in knowing. Your Se level will let you know how you are absorbing the Se either from the supplement or the Brazil nuts - it should be higher.
