Doctor in San Francisco or CapeCod/Boston Area?

An American friend of mine has been fobbed off with just a tsh test and is very unwell. I know that there are some people on this forum from the United States and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a doctor in these areas who understands hypothyroidism and carries out all the necessary blood tests. Suggestions would be helpful as my friend has asked me for assistance. Thank you.

RFU has given good advice and this is a link. The Foundation is famous for treating hypothyroid patients. I believe Dr Barnes is now deceased but his foundation carries on with his work and am sure there are doctors who follow his procedures.

The late Dr. Broda Barnes practiced medicine for more than thirty-five years. His experience with patients suffering from undiscovered cases of hypothyroidism led him to write this book. The foundation established in his name carries on his work with hypothyroidism.

Hi Penny,

I am in Ohio & really love the work of Dr.Kalish - look him up for your friend. He was in Berkley CA ( not far from SF) but is in Reno HOWEVER does Skype or other video consults + labs. Recently I received an email that stated this:

Sorry the "button" didnt copy but its the info that your friend can reference.

I follow another colleague doctor but she is on sabbatical & feel confident referring him😃

Dr. Katz was mentored by Dr. Kenneth Blanchard and was to join his practice when he passed away suddenly last April. She has taken over the care of many of his patients (myself being one of them).

To save your friend some time s/he could get a complete thyroid panel from True Health Labs. They operate out of Georgia (US) but you buy their "purchase order" over the internet and then have your blood drawn at one of the draw centers they list. I have had great success monitoring my own condition this way so I am not dismayed when my doctor only does a TSH and TT4 test (with the occasional TT3 test if I remember to nag him for it). It costs about $280 but worth it.
