After reading the following article (of course written by a US doctor so may not apply to European patients who do not have access to the same drugs), I have started asking myself why it is that I am doing so well on Thyroid-S...actually so well that, every time I try to switch to any other brand, I end up going back to Thyroid-S...despite all the fillers it contains (far more than Armour):
I have decided to keep taking Thyroid-S as it seems to be the best thyroid hormone replacement drug for me (and I've tried half a dozen so far, both prescription and OTC), but I simply fail to understand what makes it so good given all the fillers and binders it contains...it does not contain nearly as many as Armour, and many users were infuriated when the manufacturer added cellulose a few years back. Thyroid-S contains a dozen or so more ingredients; yet, so many people, myself included, do well on it...it's just that I sometimes would like to understand why that is...!
Thyroid-S is the only NDT I can take once daily and feel fine...I just find multi dosing to be so inconvenient. Thyroid-S seems to deliver steady levels of T3 all the time and I never feel it kicking in or wearing off the way I do with other brands...I really hope Thyroid-S is not going to be taken off the market. It's been unavailable for some time, after the manufacturer raised the price, and several sites selling it just state that you can preorder it and it will delivered when back in stock...I hope this is not a bad sign. Fortunately, I had stocked up so I'm good for another year.

Different makes and difference fillers means it's not one pill suits all. Through the years of reading on this site I've noticed that often those on Thyroid S who are good on it have difficulty taking Thiroyd and vice versa. Why I've no idea but it does show we can react differently so I don't think there is an easy answer to your question. Sometimes it could be down to the amount taken. There is a strong likehood that that different brand are ditterent potencies, some say that X was stinger than Y so maybe more fine tuning is necessary and once finding something good make sure you stick to something that works well for you.
Good point! Personally, I find Thiroyd too fast acting, which I interpret to mean that I need the slow-release substance (Eudragit) in Thyroid-S. When on Thiroyd, I can feel it kick in and wear off...something I never feel on Thyroid-S.
However, the current availability problems worry me...Thyroid-S is out of stock on several sites. One supplier states this is because the manufacturer has dramatically increased the price and that they are currently trying to negotiate a good deal, but I fail to see why the product would be unavailable because of that...it should be up to the customers to decide if they are willing to pay more. I can only hope they don't stop making Thyroid-S, for whatever reason, because I doubt I would feel as good on any other brand...maybe I'm being paranoid, but I don't understand how a popular brand of NDT can just be unavailable everywhere all of a sudden.
Could anyone please PM me their supply of Thyroid-S? I’ve decided to take a plunge to NDT and this one seems to be working for many so will be my first shot ☺️
