Vitamin D needs improving to around 100nmol

Better You vitamin D mouth spray is good as avoids poor gut function of Hashimoto's

Likely to need 3000iu - 5000iu daily to Improve levels

Important to retest initially after 2-3 months, then twice yearly. Once level gets to around 100nmol you need to reduce dose to provide maintenance level. Trial and error what dose you need, everyone is different

Recommended to also supplement magnesium when on high dose vitamin D

Also vitamin K2 Mk7

B12 is dire and folate too

GP should test for Pernicious Anaemia before starting B12 injections and folic acid supplements should not be started until 48 hours after first injection

Ask advice on PAS healthunlocked if GP refuses

Also recommended on here to supplement good quality vitamin B complex once injections are started (not before)

Ferritin - likely to need full iron panel, definitely ferrous fumerate supplements but iron infusion may be better option to improve levels quickly

These are all dire due to being on too low dose Levothyroxine

Insist on coeliac blood test, ideally endoscopy too (unlikely unless you go private)

GP said iron panel wasn't conclusive. Iron was 7 (6 - 26) transferrin saturation 13 (12 - 45)

Previous GP recommended a coeliac screen and endoscopy due to coeliac symptoms

Thanks

So why hasn't that happened

Push to get coeliac blood test this week or buy online £20

If blood test result is positive you should get endoscopy within 6 weeks but likely to have to push very hard to get it

Private option £1200 approx

If blood test is negative then NHS unlikely to offer endoscopy at all

You either pay, or just go strictly gluten free regardless

See my profile for more on coeliac testing often being inconclusive

The GP said she would book me in for coeliac bloods if I continued to have coeliac symptoms. I went to see her again but she wasn't available so I was seen by someone else who gave me a diagnosis of IBS and did not book me for a coeliac blood test as the previous GP suggested.

Then go back again and again. Take someone else with you as support and witness

Majority of Hashimoto's patients are gluten intolerant, not coeliac, but it can be very helpful to get official diagnosis of either

Coeliac blood test is very unreliable.

Up to you if you want to kick up a fuss or just go gluten free

I had private endoscopy as I couldn't walk. It was helpful in officially recognising severe gluten intolerance.

Also DIO2 gene test can be helpful

It was help from this forum that enabled me to work out the gut connection, gluten, low vitamins etc
