Advice needed
Welcome to our forum chritinamaria and have had health issues. Sometimes it takes a long time to be diagnosed.
If you've been hypothyroid for 18 years I'd suggest a Full Thyroid Function Test and that is:-
TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies. B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate.
Blood tests have always to be at the very earliest possible, fasting (allow a 24 hour gap between last dose of levothyroxine and the test and take after test). GP or lab may not do all of the thyroid ones but you can get those not tested privately and we have two private labs which will do home pin-prick tests (make sure you are well hydrated for a couple of days before blood draw).
Get a print-out of your results with the ranges and put them on a new post for comments.
Hi thank you for reply, will go back to doctor + ask for further bloods to be done + then pay privately for rest,I am on hydrocortisone + feel unstable with my balance + whilst walking, + my my train of thought is like cotton wool, any one else have similar issues?
Many talk about 'brain fog' as sometimes we cannot take in what people are talking about.
Balance problems can also be due to low B12 too and there's no reason why GP cannot do all of the vitamins/minerals. Leaving you to get those thyroid ones the lab wont do. I shall give you a list of clinical symptoms and you will probably be able to tick off more than a few.
Ok will go to dr nx wk + report back with any news thank you
