Failed blood test, how long to wait to try again?

Hello all!

I have just had a nurse visit from a Blue Horizon blood test that I bought, and she tried three veins n said they all collapsed and couldnt take any blood.

Just wondering has anyone else had experience of not being able to get blood? And if so how long should I wait for my veins to heal before booking again? And will it always make it more difficult getting blood for the future?

No never before, it has always been simple and I have had lots of blood tests x

Could be the nurse then 😊 - sorry. Were you well hydrated well before the appointment ?

Yes, I had two pints in the morning and she came at 10am so think that should be enough. Just worried its going to have messed my veins up for next time. Thanks for your help

Hopefully not. I was once in hospital for almost six months with almost daily blood tests - blood can be taken from many places - do not despair 😊

Can you not do a fingerprick test?

I was worried not to be able to get enough blood with a finger prick,I will go with that option next time 🙂 have you ever had problems with a finger prick?

I'm fine with fingerprick tests, I've done quite a few. I can manage to fill two microtainers for the full thyroid/nutrient bundle with Medichecks and Blue Horizon. Each microtainer holds 0.8ml blood.

If you do one at some point, make a thread asking for tips and we can all pitch in with what works for us
