Thyroid ultrasound

Hi could anyone tell me where I can get a thyroid ultrasound done please. I am in Cheshire

Hi

I had mine done at a BMI hospital, just googled BMI and see you have one in Cheshire.

There are clinics in London that offer those as well, but whether your paying private or not you may need a referral.

I did even though I was paying private. Result went to my Endocrinologist, it cost me around £316.00.

Can I ask why you had to pay if the result was going to your endocrinologist please?

I was seeing my Endocrinologist privately not on the NHS.

Even though I was paying privately the results don’t come directly to you, but, this is normal procedure apparently.

If you can get the NHS to do this for you that’s great, but either way you need a referral, even for the clinics I phoned in London.

I had mine in Manchester centre, so not too far. It was done at “thisismy.co.uk” which is a scanning centre. You get the results there and then printed out. No referral. It cost about £120. I then passed these on to my GP for my records.

The wait time could be many months for a thyroid ultrasound.

@peanut31 BMI is a real stickler for referrals. They will not budge

I have just had my 2nd thyroid scan i only had to wait around 7 weeks for my 1st one done through my gp and my 2nd one through endo and waited 4 weeks-my 2nd one was alot more in depth as it was done by a thyroid consultant sonographer much more experienced than a normal sonographer who looks at all parts of the body.xx
