How do we take advantage of the offer? Looked at the Facebook page - can’t see the offer there. Looks more like a sponsored advert on your timeline. Without the link I’m not sure how to access it? Can’t see anything about the offer on the website either although I might be being thick 😂

Not meant at all critically of you, EbonyEvans, but...

All these companies that have regular 50% off deals (or BOGOFs, or the Holland & Barrett penny sales, etc.) - they all do the same thing. Double their posted prices and then entice you with an apparent discount. What happens, of course, is that it ends up being a surcharge or premium on anyone who doesn't happen to notice the deal, or needs the product or service at a time when there isn't one available.

I would much rather see consistent low prices all the time.

I agree, that’s a good way to look at it. I like a bargain and am very sceptical in the supermarket when there’s one as this kind of prove bump happens. I thought I was the only one to notice! I also keep an eye for said discounts. But preaching to the masses won’t change anything. Even if it did they’d probably find another way to charge at premium rates. Most people aren’t as considerate as you when it comes to a bargain so you’ll suffer.

I was thinking of getting a test soon so was interested to see this post. Looked around the website hoping to find an option for a phlebotomist visit to do the blood draw for me because I really struggle with those finger prick things. Just can never get enough blood out. They don't seem to offer the phlebotomy option though so I'll not be able to take advantage of this

That’s a shame. There was a post on how to get more blood out. I think it was either food to eat or time of day or dipping hand in hot or cold water. Maybe write a post and ask the forum? Or maybe you could ask your Hospital if they’d do that service for you?

Thanks, I've tried all the tricks for getting a better flow, but still struggled. I might ask at the hospital though.

You can take your kit to a hospital with Medichecks, but there is a charge.

Getting to a hospital is the tricky bit though, so if I'm going to pay, the home phlebotomy service seems worth the extra.

Not yet. I think they’re quite new. And have been hoping HU / TUK will get a link like Blue Horizon / Medichecks. Going to get one though. I keep forgetting to get the MC one on Thursday.

On reflection, I think I'll stick with BH and MC because they've been around long enough to know what they're doing. I've used both before and they've been good, plus both offer the home visit phlebotomy service. And of course TUK will get something from them too.

Re having blood taken, I asked at my GP’s and the phlebotomist does it for £10 a time. Might be worth asking.

I have used them once for the first time a couple of weeks ago. The guide on doing the finger prick test was good and they included three spring-loaded pricking tools, plasters, wipes and one sample bottle which went to a known lab (you can see where on the mailer envelope - I think mine went to Guildford) and the results came the next day by email, presented clearly online with advice from a Doctor (I checked his name and he was on the register). They suggested dietary changes such as gluten free and seem to be open to the ideas of Thyroid UK in that respect. I will use them again.

Hi Ste4, someone told me Thriva use County Labs for testing, not sure if that's correct though. Are Thriva results on separate page to Drs comments?

Unfortunately the code does not seem to work for the Thyroid test. Looking at their labs, looks like the use the same one as Medichecks in Guilford. Shame, would have been good at half price!
