I recently had blood test confirm abnormal thyroid function on the hypo side (under active). I felt tired for about 18-24 months but my first major symptom was hives, they lasted 4 months before settling. Around the time it started I noiced that I found it hard to swallow and the skin in my neck felt strange. The hives have now settled though I do get itchy over various areas of my body. The most recent symptom that sent me to the GP was constipation, I think I may have Hashimoto’s and fear I also may have a tumour as I said I did have a sore throat and found it extremely hard to swallow but this was when my hives were at there peak and only lasted a week or two.... sound familiar ?? Off for an ultrasound and thyroid antibody test this week.

Start a new post with your findings when you get your results. In the meantime have a look on the site of Thyroid U.K. who run this forum. Lots of good info but shout out if anything you don't understand.

Many people find they have nodules in their thyroid. These are often harmless but do need investigation just in case. Many people also find their thyroid becomes swollen when their antibodies attack their thyroid. The chances are it's not a tumour.

Most of the 76,000 ++ members of this forum are sufferers and we share experiences and ideas. There are some Medics on board. You can also use the SEARCH facility on this Forum eg type in - Thyroid Nodules - or Hives another time and read the 100's of posts that will appear.

Hives can also be LOW B12. No I am not a Doctor but I do have LOTS of experiences to share

I get better advice on this forum than from my doctor. I actually had to educate my internist from posts on this forum. It’s been very helpful and educational. I knew nothing when I was first diagnosed.

No I am not medically trained (although I am well qualified in my own field) but I have read thousands of posts on this forum, so I might say I have educated myself. I am also quite a skeptic when it comes to alternative therapies (herbal, homeopathy etc), although if people find such things help them that's fine by me. I have autoimmune hypothyroidism, and take Levothyroxine (although i would consider using NDT). I also take Vitamin D and B12, which I have found helps my symptoms and possibly the way my body uses Levothyroxine.
