Anyone done their research on Thiroyd tablets from Thailand?

Hi I was taking Nature-Thyroid which was working well for me, however it has been getting almost impossible to get hold of it for a number of reasons. Because of this I then started taking levothyroxine which seemed to be working OK, however because my GP has reduced my daily intake from 125mg to 100mg I am not sure now if it is suiting me. I have put on over 1/2 stone in weight in a short time and experiencing a number of other typical symptoms, so wondered if only taking T4 isn't right for me. I was going to try the product Thiroyd which comes from Thailand, however without being negative it worries me how it is produced. Has anyone researched this product at all? Any thoughts most welcome. xxx

Get you thyroid retested. Likely under medicated now if GP reduced dose based just on TSH

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4, TT4, FT3 plus TPO and TG thyroid antibodies. Plus vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12.

Essential to test thyroid antibodies plus vitamins

Private tests are available. GP unlikely to test FT3 or antibodies

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's

Dr Toft, past president of the British Thyroid Association and leading endocrinologist, states in Pulse Magazine,

"The appropriate dose of levothyroxine is that which restores euthyroidism and serum TSH to the lower part of the reference range - 0.2-0.5mU/l.

In this case, free thyroxine is likely to be in the upper part of its reference range or even slightly elevated – 18-22pmol/l.

Most patients will feel well in that circumstance. But some need a higher dose of levothyroxine to suppress serum TSH and then the serum-free T4 concentration will be elevated at around 24-28pmol/l.

This 'exogenous subclinical hyperthyroidism' is not dangerous as long as serum T3 is unequivocally normal – that is, serum total around T3 1.7nmol/l (reference range 1.0-2.2nmol/l)."

You can obtain a copy of the articles from Thyroid UK email print it and highlight question 6 to show your doctor

 please email Dionne at

tukadmin@thyroiduk.org

Also could request list of recommended thyroid specialists, some are T3 friendly

Professor Toft recent article saying, T3 may be necessary for many otherwise we need high FT4 and suppressed TSH in order to have high enough FT3

rcpe.ac.uk/sites/default/fi...

Official NHS guidelines saying TSH should be between 0.2 and 2.0 when on Levothyroxine

(Many of us need TSH nearer 0.2 than 2.0 to feel well)

Really appreciate your reply to my post I will look at the links you forwarded. Isn't it a shame we all have to waste so much time researching our condition. Many thanks x

It is a pity but if we don't we remain unwell - some for years as the knowledge of the professionals is pitiful.

I have done as much reading as I can on NDT from Thailand & have changed from Naturethroid to Thiroid because of the massive difference in price,as well as uncertainty of supply. Also,Naturethroid is subject to VAT at the border PLUS Royal Mail's handling charge.I paid the same VAT for 2 bottles as I did for 1 bottle!

I have not had Thiroid stopped by HMC&E so far, after 2 delivieries.

I have had to switch to Mastercard,as Visa & Paypal are refusing to process my orders by failing them at security.I have loaded a pre-paid |Mastercard to avoid access to bank accounts on the internet.I will keep just enough in for one order,as hacking is rife.

Hi Many thanks for your note..As you say the total costs involved for the Nature-Thyroid was getting silly.

Didn't know you could get a prepaid mastercard..I have a normal one linked to my bank account so shouldn't I use that?

Dobby,

I've not seen any reports of members' credit cards being hacked after buying Thiroyd or Thyroid-S or any other NDT for that matter.

Well that is a little reassuring... If I could just get my GP to play nicely, I wouldn't have to go overseas to seek alternative medication. I may try and get some private blood tests done. I was just looking at Medichecks, they do something called a UltraVite rT3 test, on special offer at the moment @ £139. Maybe then I could present the results to my GP and see if that helps or am I being to optimistic?!! Xxxx

Dobby,

UK doctors aren't trained to understand rT3 so your GP won't be able to help you interpret the results and won't be able to offer an alternative to Levothyroxine. An NHS endo recommendation is required before GPs can prescribe Liothyronine (T3) and some CCGs have banned prescribing of it due to cost. NDT isn't licensed for UK use so it's rarely prescribed on the NHS.

You will need to pay a phlebotomist to do a venous blood draw for tests including rT3. I'm not sure it's worth the bother of testing rT3.

That's a good idea about safe-guarding your bank details by buying a pre-paid Mastercard.

I was interested to read your reply to this post I have been taking Thiroyd for about 3 years and feel better than ever did on levothyroxine- MUCH better in fact !

Extremely worried at the moment as can no longer pay with PayPal or with my visa card have considered paying with western union because of this but have read that many people forced to use this method have not received the product at all. I have made enquiries about a prepaid card but not finding anyone who will give me one !

There must be another way I'm almost out of tablets.

I set up a "pre-load" Mastercard debit card through Barclays bank.I also set up a Mastercard debit card linked to a bank account with a small balance-just enough to purchase the NDT!Both cards failed at payment!Ended up using a Visa credit card in the end.

The powers that be(whoever they are) are making it very difficult.Paypal has been "got at"Amazon has been "got at"I hear one supplier has resorted to a "phony payment system"through Ebay.Crazy times, considering the medical profession don't rate NDT.

Hi many thanks for your reply. I guess I was just concerned where they source their ingredient. On their website under the FAQ is states the following:-

Is there a list of ingredients for Thyroid-S or Thiroyd?

No, unfortunately these products are not covered by patent protection and the manufacturers have decided not to release this information. There is some publicly available information on the Stop The Thyroid Madness® website!

Thanks again xxx

I take Thyroid-S from Thailand and haven’t looked back - feel much better, lost over 30lbs and am even back at the gym. Go for it.

Good luck!

Hi Kiwidel Well done for the weight loss that really is an achievement. Just one question, have you ordered from them recently? I notice on the website that supplies the two products from Thailand, (Thiroyd and Thiroyd-S) payment can't be made directly, they either want payment by Bitcoin or make a payment to a bank in China I believe. Someone did mention to be a little cautious because it is going through a third parties bank. Have you had any issues with this? xxxx

Kiwidel profile image
Kiwidel in reply to Dobby

I haven’t purchased for over a year as the batch had a long expiry date so I bought enough for a couple of years. When I did purchase I was able to use a credit card.

I did as much research as I could on the seller and the authenticity of the product before purchasing but was still nervous until I had them and they started working and I’m not looking forward to the next time I have to source some. ☹️

Unfortunately they seem to have amended their payment options. I understand it is the fact that both Paypal and Visa and I guess master card, will not allow these transactions because they are not prepared to have anything to do with the purchase of pharmaceutical products overseas. I think this is all to do with them taking on the liability should anything go wrong. Mtcorr just mentioned world remit, never heard of that! Mtcoor...I wonder if it is the same company I have been looking at....Not sure if I am allowed to say the company on here?! Gosh the lengths we have to go just to feel normal! ....

Hi last time I purchased I used world remit, I felt West union was asking too many question.

I was kept up to date by the vender and world remit throughout the transaction. I purchase Thiroyd and always keep a good supply in case there are ever any issues with supply.

Thiroyd has changed my life.

I need to order more thiroyd pretty soon but no PayPal and I can't use my visa - how exactly do you use world remit ? I get mine from Thailand but it doesn't have an option to pay by world remit can you clarify please.

Hi LouRey

Trying desperately to remember its been a while. I know i dowmloaded an app to my phone and if I remember rightlt I registered with them. It was just a matter of following the instructions, I cam remember there was lots of emails at every stage to tell me what was happening. I think the prinicipal is that the Thailand supplier gives you details of their world remit account, you then send the money to this, the supplier them goes amd collects the money and on receipt sends you the Thiroyd.

Sorry i cannot be more exact bur i will look at ordering more if the use by date us good and I can tell ypu more.

Thanks for your help ! I think I should email 'the company' for the details of their world remit account and keep my fingers crossed 😐

Hi quick update, there are only two payment options now bitcoin or transferwise. I haven't a clue about bitcoin but transferwise have an app and like world remit it looks straightforward to use.

Thanks again for your help mtcorr- I'm off work next week and will see what I can do - thanks for the head start:)

Hi Lourey

I managed to place an order using transferwise. Thialand ask you what method you would like to pay, when you tell them transferwise they send you the details to use. Transferwise have an app easy to use, entered the details and paid. The money was paid that day and was transfered to thialand the next. Thialand then sent an email with picture of my order in the boxes ready to post as usual.

A lot stress free than i thought it would be.

Just have to wait for my order to arrive now.
