How to ask for results for thyroid etc?

OK, so if you are told no again, then keep smiling and say

"Actually, the Data Protection Act 1998 gives me the legal right to my results. I'm sure no-one in the surgery wishes to break the law"

If the receptionist still won't give them to you ask to speak to the Practice Manager and repeat.....

If you are asked for a reason why you want them, you don't have to give one. If you really feel you need to then just say

"For my own records". No need for anything more.

Come back and say if you get your results. If they are still obstructive you can put in a Subject Access Request.

If your medical practice has 'GP Online Services' you could ask to sign up. You could then see your results as soon as they are available. That is how I see my results.

I've signed up to GP online and I don't get access to my results !! I can only order repeat medication - first time in 3 years they've actually given me 2 months supply of carmimazole instead of one month - I say a month I only get 28 tablets !! Sick of asking them ! Seeing GP for medication review next month so I'll insist on getting mine !!

I didn't have access to my results when I first signed up for the online service - although I had ticked to box to receive my results on my application form. So I phoned up the administrator responsible for the online service at my medical centre. She was quite happy to activate the results section for me.

It is very useful. I can see my results before I see my GP - and I can track my progress by comparing results from different times.

I also use the online service to book GP appointments and order repeat prescriptions.

But I still don't have access to my other medical records on the online service - even though I ticked the box to receive access on my application form. I understand that I have to ask one of the partners at the practice to be granted access to those.
