In the dark about meds.

Hi Everyone, I am new to your site and thank you all for giving me somewhere to be able to reach out too. I was recently diagnosed with underactive thyroid and now take 125mcg Levothyroxine daily along with meds for mental health condition. Recently finding myself feeling a bit detached and not able to think straight and feeling as though what i'm talking about is not making sense. I find it quite upsetting and i'm often reduced to tears when it happens. Does anyone else have these feelings?? Just so confused by it all. Thank you.

Do you have a copy of your most recent blood test results? If you share them, people may be able to advise on whether you're optimally medicated, which may be relevant.

Also, if you have vitamin tests (b12, vit D, folate)

Hi Cooper, Thank you for replying to my post. Sorry I do not have my blood results. But other meds taken are Depakote, Sertraline, Olanzapine, Thiamine and Mebeverine as well as Levo.

Could it be the different drugs reacting against each other?? I don't know but the way this detached feeling makes me feel is just horrible.

Sorry, I'm not familiar enough with all the medicines to be able to advise - do you take them all at the same time? Because sometimes medicines can limit absorption of one another. You would need to speak to someone more knowledgeable about the best time of day to take each one.

You can get a copy of your test results from your GP, in England you can access them if your register for your GPs online service, or you can request a print out from your GP reception.

Hi Cooper,

Thank you again for your reply. My meds are taken at different times throughout the day. Will look into getting hold of my results whether online or via GP.

Thanks again.

When you do, start a new thread with your results, and ask for any thoughts. Include reference ranges too (numbers in brackets).

OMG, that's me too!!

I've been recently diagnosed too, am on levothyroxine 100.

I have had mental health issues, but threw the towel in last year, thought I was going nuts.

I am taking magnesium, vitamin b complex

at night at the moment.

I've been on 75mcg Levothyroxine since 1991, along with plenty of other scrip meds, never noticed any reaction BUT relatively recently advised should ideally take on empty stomach first thing, half hour before eating/drinking anything, or definitely leaving at least half hour (I leave one hour to be on safe side) either side ............. haven't noticed any difference since starting this regime, makes me wonder about it given that all my test results have been fine for all these years and I've been taking it at various times a.m. sometimes with/wthout other meds! I do believe though that it's worth having the most detailed tests possible : last time paid Blue Horizons for mine. All these years I've not heard of anyone being made to feel 'detached' by Levo but can't say more than that ..........
