Can someone tell me where they get Hennings from please?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to writing on here. I have had an allergy test that has come back saying I am allergic to lactose. I am just wondering if anyone has Hennings and what pharmacy they get it from and if a doctor has prescribed it? I have seen various doctors who tell me to speak to a pharmacist and various pharmacists who say to speak to a doctor! Any help would be so much appreciated.

You need your GP to write a prescription for lactose-free Levothyroxine and then your pharmacist can source Hennings for you.

Oops, I forgot, Teva Levothyroxine is lactose-free. Ask your pharmacist to obtain Teva for you.

Thank you so much for your response! I have heard of people having reactions to Teva, so was hoping to get some Hennings. If I got my doctor to prescribe the lactose free version do you know specifically which pharmacist on that list would supply it? I contacted Hennings direct and they said they only supply through pharmacies.

Also do you know of anyone that has had any success with being prescribed lactose free thyroxine? My doctor has said no twice even though I have showed him my positive lactose intolerance test results and the pharmacist said that such a small amount of lactose wont make a difference so I can't have anything else. It's driving me mad!

People have reactions to all sorts of brands. Because Teva doesn't suit some doesn't mean it won't suit you. The only way to tell is to try it.

If your GP writes a prescription for lactose-free Levothyroxine then your pharmacist is likely to dispense Teva.

If you want Hennings Levothyroxine you will have to persuade your GP to write a prescription for Hennings Levothyroxine specifically and then your local pharmacy should be able to obtain it for you. If they don't know how to give them the list of specialist importers. It may be worth checking how Hennings is dispensed ie if it is dispensed in 100 x 100mcg Levothyroxine there is no point in your GP writing 28 x 100mcg Levothyroxine.

Yes many have complained about Teva but I e also seen posts of ones Lactose intolerant who it works well for so may be worth a try

For completely different reasons, not lactose issues, I have tried both Henning and Aliud - another German lactose-free make. Found both absolutely fine. I mention this because it adds an alternative make, should the need arise.

(If you were willing and able to pay, you could use your NHS prescription to get either of those products from this site. Could be some slight problems because NHS prescriptions are usually multiples of 28 tablets whereas Germany seems to favour 100 tablets. But at least you can see what is available. I do not know if any of the other makes is lactose-free.)

I have never used that website.

Many others have used it successfully and it is often recommended in other forums.

Hi I use the versandapo website thybon henning is a good quality t3 for me,I post my prescription when they receive it they email me I pay with my credit card I receive my tablets a few days later.

I use Hennings Thybon and Hennings L-Thyroxin. My GP gives me a private prescription, and posts to a pharmacy in Germany for me. I pay for both myself. Both come in packs of 50 or 100 (and in some cases 98). Thybon is around €30 per 100 tablets, and Levo approx €15 per 100 tablets depending on strength. I will pm you details of my Pharmacy. They accept private and NHS prescriptions, but you have to pay either way.
