Your endo is very, very ignorant! You cannot just reduce your by 150 mcg in one go, like that. It will make you feel terrible. Decreases should be made in the same way that increases are made: 25 mcg every six weeks.

As to whether you need to decrease, we would have to see your latest labs to advise. You symptoms suggest you are still hypo, so reducing would make them worse.

Have you had your nutrients tested? Pins and needles are usually due to low B12. If you haven't already done so, ask your GP to test vit D, vit B12, folate and ferritin.

But, whatever you do, do not reduce from 175 to 25 mcg in one go! :)

TSH 4.78 (0.2 - 4.2)

Free T4 14.9 (12 - 22)

Free T3 3.4 (3.1 - 6.8)

You are very underdosed as your TSH is over top of range, i.e. 4.78 when it should be 1 or lower.

Both FT4 and FT3 are at the bottom of the range instead of towards the top. You must be very symptomatic.

The mor I read on this forum it has become very clear that if we want to get well we should avoid Endocrinologists and those who are supposed to be more knowledgeable than the majority on this forum.

So, those were the results that led him to say you should reduce your dose? Run away from that endo! Run away as fast as you can! He knows nothing about thyroid, and will make you very ill!

Ferritin 15 (15 - 150)

Folate 2.1 (4.6 - 18.7)

Vitamin B12 207 (180 - 900)

Vitamin D total 44.2 (25 - 50 vitamin D deficiency)

No wonder you are very unwell with all of the above being lower than the bottom of the range or near and Vit D deficiency. I shall add greygoose so she can also read the results.

You have Hashi's, so probably have an absorption problem. Your nutrients are all too low, and your Frees are very low considering your dose. You really should try gluten-free, and take measures to heal your gut. How do you feel about bone broth?

What has your ignorant endo said about these results? Or your GP? They all want supplementing. They need to be optimal for the T4 to work.

Hi I don't know what bone broth is but can try it and haven't been told to supplement anything

Well, bone broth is something you make from boiling up bones with vegetables. It's supposed to be very good for leaky gut. But, I don't have a recipe, I'm afraid.

All of your nutrients need supplementing. They are all too low for good health. I'm not very good on supplements, so I would suggest you read the replies of SeasideSusie

healthunlocked.com/user/sea...

to see what she recommends other take that are in the same situation.

As you have Hashi's, if you lower your dose, your nutritional deficiencies will probably get worse.

TPO antibodies 875 (<34)

TG antibodies 255.3 (<115)

You have hashimoto's, the commonest form of hypothyroidism, due to having antibodies. Going gluten-free can help reduce them as antibodies attack the thyroid gland and wax and wane until you are hypo.

shaws Can TUK start database of who these incompetent endocrinologists are? If we have a good list why not a bad list? Could it also be used to collect evidence so that serious action could be taken against them. It seems that in range was once good enough but now anything goes even out of range is ok, hypothyroidism is diagnosed as Graves, patients who do not improve are simply accused of not taking their medication correctly, clearly hypothyroid patients are told to stop taking their medication altogether - it goes from bad to worse .

At least you tried. TUK, being a charity, have to follow regulations I assume.

Also if someone puts up a name asking for info, those who've not had a good experience can respond by a Private Message.

shaws yes the charity has to follow the law of the land or it will be open to legal action and that would bring it into disrepute. But you are right there is the pm option and a list of recommended medical people to refer to.
