Blue Horizon blood tests in Canada?

Kalicocat profile image
40 Replies

I was googling private blood testing in Canada and came across this site:

bloodtestscanada.com/

It has Blue Horizons Blood Tests on the main page. Patients pay for the blood test online, print a form and then go to Dynacare labs (which are legit) to get the blood drawn. I called the number that they list on their site and no-one answers, not even a machine, the phone just keeps ringing. I called Dynacare to see if they knew about Blue Horizon and they said no they had never heard of them.

Anyone from Canada actually use them? I need to know if they are legit. There is absolutely no guarantee that I can see that they will pass part of my payment onto Dynacare.

I'm thinking they might be affiliated with Blue Horizons in the UK as the website is hosted from there. I really hope they are legit....

Hi Kalicocat,

Thank you for your interest in Blood tests Canada and I apologise that your calls were not answered, I'll look into the call forwarding.

Yes,the Canada website works, and the lab form we give you to print out has our dynacare account number on. I'm not surprised that the staff you spoke to had not heard of us, we're a small client!

The only other reassurance I can give you is that you pay by PayPal so you're completely covered financially.

Best wishes

Paul.

Hello Kalicocat

Were you able to get the Blue Horizon tests? I tried to contact them and even private messaged Paul, as suggested here, but get no reply. Tks

Yes, I have used them twice already! Once you pay, you download your requisition and print it. Then take the form with you to get your blood drawn at a Dynacare lab. Blood Tests Canada will email you your results. It's awesome! Now I can keep track of my thyroid and get Free T3 and Free T4 tested which my GP won't do. I asked my endo to give her instructions to always test both FTs, so hopefully that won't be an issue for me the next time she allows me to test...

Hi have you used them latey. I have and been a week and have not got my results back and the phone # is out of order and email is no good.

Oh no, that is not good news, I still have two tests that I haven't used yet, and haven't been able to use since the whole world locked down due to Covid. I just got an email from them on April 24th trying to sell a COVID test - the address was assistance@bluehorizonmedicals.co.uk. Did you email this address?

Yes 2 times and did not get a reply..

Do you get the email bounce back or just no answer? You can also try Paul at paul@bluehorizonbloodtests.co.uk.

Just no reply will try that one you posted.

Timbir Kalicocat BH have a page on their website that lists various scenarios, each of which link to specific forms you can fill in. If you haven't already done so, you could try using one of the links under the sub heading Kit Sent Back to the Laboratory? bluehorizonbloodtests.co.uk... (The actual form is below all the explanatory text).

Timbir profile image
Timbir in reply to RedApple

This is a Canadian blood test where we attend a lab dynacare to have them draw blood there is no heading for that under the link you sent.

RedAppleAdministrator in reply to Timbir

Ah ok, sorry about that! I didn't think there were any attendance based tests currently happening because of the pandemic, but obviously things are different in Canada :)

Paul is a member of this forum, so let's try a callout to him. He may not see it, but worth a try.

Hi Kalicocat, it's great to hear that you successfully got your Blue Horizon tests. Could you give me some advice? I'm in Toronto and I purchased tests from the BloodTestsCanada.com, but when I called Dynacare, I was told it's not an acceptable requisition. They said the requisition has to be from an actual doctor from Ontario, is that true in your case?

Kalicocat profile image
Kalicocat in reply to VitaminA

No, I just went in to get my blood tested, they were confused for a bit, made some calls, and then accepted the requisition. I go to Oakridges Medical at 13291 Yonge St #103, Richmond Hill, ON L4E 4L6. just in case you continue to have problems. I was just there in December for a blood test. They've never questioned me since that first time.

Hello! I just found this community and was interested in using bloodtestcanada.com. My emails bounce back and chat doesn’t work. Did you ever get a hold of them? Thanks

Kalicocat profile image
Kalicocat in reply to Elblue

That's not good. I got my blood tested with them back in January, but haven't since. I still have 2 requisitions that I haven't used yet and they weren't cheap.

Hopefully they will still work.

I have used it several times, but often the staff at Dynacare do not understand the service. You may need to explain it is private pay and ALL specimens go to Dynacare labs ( not public health etc). Email assistance on the blue horizons uk site... I got prompt help that way.

Hi Elblue! I was able to contact them using this address assistance@bluehorizonmedicals.co.uk

Actually I gave up on using bloodtestcanada.com because their requisition wasn't accepted at Dynacare. So I got a refund. Not sure if this helps you but sharing just in case!

Thank you for your help. I’m sorry to hear they didn’t work. It can be frustrating trying to get test ms from doctors, so I was hoping this would work.

Hi Elblue, I totally understand. Maybe you can ask your local lab first to make sure they'll accept the requisition before you make a purchase? Where are you located? Let me know if you need more help with anything!

Thank you. I am in Ontario.

I don't know where in Ontario you live but I got blood tests in January 2021 at Dynacare at Oakridges Medical at 13291 Yonge St #103, Richmond Hill, ON L4E 4L6. But it was touch and go that first time as they tried to figure out if the requisition was valid or not. Now they just accept the tests without argument.

That’s good. I live in Ottawa. I still heard back from them. I wanted to ask them some questions before I purchased.

Hey. I just came across this site - bloodtestcanada by blue horizons. Are they still active and responsive? I’m kind of afraid that it is a scam. I need to get a thyroid test done. Does dynacare even accept their requisition? What do I even ask dynacare to make sure that they accept this requisition.

I got my results from them....blood draw was closing time of dynacare ..they were closing the lab in 5 minutes around 5 pm .I got result in early morning around 6 am . Do they ship samples even after they close the lab and test run overnight? As I got results in just 12 hrs ...Just curious if the results are legit

Kalicocat profile image
Kalicocat in reply to Lucky11503

Yes, the labs are open 24 hours, otherwise the bloods taken at the end of the day may not be any good by the time they run them in the morning. So, yes, they are legit!

Micheal87 profile image
Micheal87 in reply to VitaminA

I never had trouble getting blood done there but they twice “coded” the specimens incorrectly...and sent the specimen to public health ( normally where my test would be done in Ontario) instead of the Dynacare lab who processes the private clients.

I believe they make pickups after customer hours. Lab is accredited & 24/7. Don’t worry

Hello Kalicocat , how does Dynacare recognize that we have already paid to bloodtestcanada website? What if they do not accept and ask for payment again.

Kalicocat profile image
Kalicocat in reply to Red2024

Sorry, I just saw this post now. The fact that you have the blood requisition is proof enough that you paid for your blood test. I would email assistance@bluehorizonmedicals.co.uk and tell them you are having trouble with your requisition. There's a reference number on the requisition form as well as your client number that you can reference when you contact them.

I have had no issues. I just received an email from them recently so yes, they are still active. I had trouble the first time I took my requisition to Dynacare in Aurora, they were not going to accept it, but they made a few calls, and I've been able to get my blood tests there since.

I know the lab is operating 24/7. Dynacare is an accredited lab. No worries
